I'm outta here. I think I'll try Tibia or something.
This place is full of egotistical know-it-alls.
(not the players, the players are great, it's the gms and mods)
Martin, you need to learn to tone it down and show a little respect toward other's views and opinions. And before you say "the game is free and youre lucky you even get to play." I say I don't give a crap if it is free, that doesn't give you an excuse to be so sarcastic and rude.
A little respect and common decency toward others goes a long way.
bye everyone, nice knowing you.

@Crocket Farewell. It was nice knowing you...though I never did meet you in game I don't think.

I have to say I do agree with you Crocket and I await with excited anticipation the responce to this thread. It is a shame to see you are leaving tho, its a shame to see any decent person leave Illarion.

I can't recall ever meeting you ingame but I shall be sorry to see another Trollsbane resident leave. I agree Martins wit can be a little acerbic at times but that's just the way he is. Since some of the GMs and mods are german, I dont think the humour always does well in the translation. It seems a shame to quit a game, that you admit you enjoy, because of a few comments on the boards. Still, the decision is yours to make. I hope your friends, and others, will persuade you to hang on a while longer but if not, farewell.

I dont know if it is just me, but I find martin's sarcasm amusing.
Might be that I have a odd sense of humor.

And yet another falls on the battlefield that is this game.
I find martin extremely rude, wit or not, wheras before any opinion posted would dwell over a long time everyone's views would be implemented and it would finish when it was finished, now its a few posts and:
Blah blah seen before blah blah I think your views are irrelivant blah blah

did you read the first thread in the proposal board?
if you would have done that, you would know why he act in such a way.

When you are longer here and see how often some kinds of ideas were suggested, how often some things are discussed and how often you say something and in the next minute come another one with the same problem and ask again.
Then you begin to be sarcastic and use only a few words, because it´s no pleasure to repeat you constantly.
Or you force people to use the scearch function; with "Topic closed".
And martin warned us all that we should think about our ideas in the proposal board before we post them!
And probably we should be gladly that he try this way to show us, that our ideas no longer originally or new.
indeed i agree with Darlok, and think it would be much better when not all can post in the proposal boards.

It was much more friendly and nice before, and when an idea was posted it ended with a feeling of achievement, now it just feels unfinished.

I don't think martin is to blame...if you take a look at the countless number of people who post irrelevant spam you might be able to understand him getting irritated easily. I for one understand why he acts so...It is hard being a moderator.

I wasn't blaming Martin but took it he was part of the problem since Crocket said...

Martin, you need to learn to tone it down and show a little respect toward other's views and opinions.
I find Martins acerbic (
clever in a cruel way) wit quite funny at times. Other times in my opinion he does step over the line, I'm thinking of a reply he made to someone in the graphics forum. As I said though thats just my opinion. I dont want this to turn into a "lets slag Martin off" thread as I don't think he deserves it. I was just trying to point out that some of the things he says in jest might be taken too seriously.

umm, crocket, you dont HAVE to post in the forums, you know that dont you? and rejection in the graphics forum is perfectly ok, because its well his forum. dont take it so personally.remember the old saying, sticks and stone may brake my bones, and that would really hurt, but words can never hurt me.

I personally think Martin does a terrific job and is too nice to some people (and his witty comments are hilarious when taken in context). All of the gm/moderators are! There are infinite cases where a warning or board or even character suspension are warranted but are not given. They are all very lenient and this is commendable considering how long they have been doing this work and how much they have had to put up with in this time. If you can't see that they're tired of reading the exact same proposal countless times because some players are too lazy to use the search function or just propose worthless ideas then it's your own fault and you may be one of those who are a part of the problem. Players need to learn to use better judgment in making their posts.
If you want to make a post that has no relevant content then think again before you hit send (rpg and proposal boards especially!)! If you think your proposal would be a nice idea if implemented into the game in 3 years when it's likely they could get to it then maybe you should keep that idea for 3 years so ones that would be implemented into the game and discussed now could be read sooner and thus implemented sooner.
If an idea is obvious there is a very high chance that it is already known and being worked on or thought about by the programmers. Just because a proposal is not listed on the proposal board does not mean it is not in consideration (it is just too obvious to bother listing!). Everyone just use common sense and be thankful that they do what they do for us.
That said, I’m sorry to see you go Crocket and wish you would change your mind. You’ll find no better game that this!
Martin, keep up the good work!

Since we have no idea how far into the future the programing team look we cant really judge. Just because we dont think it's possible right now doesn't mean it isn't. I would think bringing an idea up now would help it to be planned into a future client upgrade or at least set the path that way.
If an idea is obvious there is a very high chance that it is already known and being worked on or thought about by the programmers. Just because a proposal is not listed on the proposal board does not mean it is not in consideration (it is just too obvious to bother listing!).
How many inventions have been obvious. Just because one person thinks it's obvious doesn't mean it's occured to anyone else. We cant read the minds of the team so we don't know whats "in the pipeline" unless they tell us.
I am sure everyone who plays the game, including myself, agree that Martin and the whole team do an excellent job.

*g*; sorry.
When i post regularly 2 proposal each day minimum, then is the question "How high is the chance, that my suggestions are new or good?" not so far away.
Mostly it´s enough when i read the title and i know this thread is only a repetition or completely nonsense.

I don't want anyone to leave because of me or another staffmember/GM/developer/whatever. This is not what we or what I intended.
I can tell you what the problem is:
There was a number of GMs who said: "The proposal board does not make sense anymore, people are only posting crap. Lets close it!". They actually wanted to do that and at the same moment I came up with my proposal because I think we should at least give it a last chance. Others were quite sceptical about my proposal, but in the end I was stronger.

So I posted this text and hoped that people will read and follow it. Some people did, others did not. Those who did not obey what was said in it got to feeal it. (One of my teachers always told us: "Who doesn't hear has to feel", now some feel it...)
And yes, I surely write sarcastic comments on some topics, that's how I am. Should I suppress it? Don't take it so serious. It's not intended to be.
I really wonder about that. There are people crying around that non-german speaking persons should learn german or leave the game, they are complaining about english speaking people in illarion and that they don't post in english. I find THIS very embarrassing and I told them that I think they are wrong. However, no one seems to care about that. No one said "I leave because of xenophobia" or something. But my little postings about people who steal our precious time (Illarion is not my job! I do not get a single cent for it and for the work I do I would for sure earn good money somewhere else!) and who obviously can't read what we post and what we want you to do are the reason for people to leave Illarion?
Tell me exactly what you didn't like about my actions and we can talk about that here.
Martin
