I have decided to make a guild for the fellow goldsmiths out there. I am pleased by many of your thoughts and ideas. If you are interested in joining please contact me. We already are working on a site for this new guild as well. More information will be added soon.

Thanks.

"A guild of goldsmiths" is pretty vague, usually a guild is based on more than that.

But Astral, using that reasoning, just about every guild would be just as vague...the farming guild; they farm. A blacksmithing/mining guild; they may blacksmith or mine. A goldsmithing guild; we goldsmith.

Basically, we're going to make an attempt to earn enough profits to open our own building on Illarion and provide the world with cheap prices for goldsmithed items. It's just a plan, though...it may be based in Silverbrand considering that goldsmithing may be more or less aimed toward the profession of the dwarves.

i think its more of a union to control prices and such, but, i would join if i was a goldsmith, hard to find people these days who will sell 85 nuggets.

drops mouth in awe then again i could have out-bid you if seth would have taken bids

From the title, you are just a bunch of people who assemble for the sole purpose of smithing gold. Other craftsman/merchant guilds seek to moderate prices and create a steady stream of goods to the market. Also, if you take a look, there is a lot more to the "Farming Guild" than just farming. So very few guilds that I know of are that vague.

((Don't forget that originally guilds were groups of merchants or craftsmen of the same craft which worked together for providing safety and profit for each other. Basically every so called "guild" we currently have is no guild, but a clan, circle, community or something else. Guilds in medieval to todays terms are shoemakers guilds, smiths guilds, merchants guilds...))

also the purpose of a economic guild (adano is right in that aspect) never was to keep prices down. they limited the production of their goods to keep prices at a certain level, but also enshuring a certain quality. also they defined strict borders between different craftmanships (= guilds).
craftsman and traders , who did not submit to their rules usually met a bad fate.

Elaralith walks down a street bustling with merchants selling their wares and she stops to read the Guild Board...
Elaralith writes a letter which she hands to an errandboy to take it to this new guild's headquarters:

To The Goldsmithing Guild:

Greetings!
I wonder what you sell? I may need some gold goblets for worship services to Elara in the future, and I would like to know if you produce such objects. Thank you for your time.
May Elara grant you all knowledge and wisdom,
~Elaralith, Priestess of Elara~

I have all goldsmithed items. All I need is the item you need and the number of the item that you want.

I would of never started a goldsmithing guild if I found out that there was a blacksmithing guild or clan. I am very good at goldsmithing and blacksmithing. I'm a much better blacksmith than I am a goldsmith. I would like ot create or join a blacksmithing guild rather than create a goldsmithing guild. Many say that a lot of people are master blacksmiths right? Are there any master blacksmiths that can actually make items though? I noticed sometimes that when a master smith tries to sell someone an item, it takes them a long time to make that item. I don't know anyone that can make plate armor quickly. Many of the "master" smiths have the option to make plate armor, but it takes them a very long time just to make one. I myself can make plate armor easily. As I said before, I don't know many who can do that. It isn't just plate armor too, it is a bunch of weapons and armor.

The fact that many do not wish this were to happen. Then there will not be a goldsmithing guild. As I said, I'm a better blacksmith. For the time being, I will try to join the Ironhammers, if they even exist. If they do not, I'll try to contact all the old members and see if this group can come back to life.
