Mage types

Greetings,
I would like to propose some things that may limit mages somewhat. I propose that their be specific mage types. Examples would be: fire mage, air mage, earth mage, water mage, spirit mage. The way in which mages could be limited would be that they would only get to choose 1 element to specialize in, but they would still be able to cast the other spells of the other elements but with reduced skill and damage. The new system I propose would be that the first spell a mage casts whatever element it belongs to becomes that mage's area of speciality. Then the mage could increase in skill in that area at a increased rate. On the other hand if the mage were to try any other spells from other elements he could have a reduced rate of skill increase. I propose this to both make mages have an easier time and a harder time, and of course to bring in the element of realism so essential to a true RP game like illarion.
