The cost of tailored items

Greetings!
I would just like to propose a significant raise in the price of certain tailored items. This can be done by raising the price the NPC Eliza pays for them. Some tailored items I feel need price raising (feel free to add to this list): Robe, wizards hat, dress, leather armour, leather legs.
It seems impossible to me that one plate armor wil bring in 16 gold coins while one dress only brings in 4 gold coins. Dresses were for noble ladies in the medieval ages and were just as expensive as knight's armor if not more so because of the many gems etc. that were usually sown into the clothings. A modern day example would be a wedding dress. One wedding dress can cost up to hundreds of thousand of dollars! Truly, I think the prices for certain tailored items such as the new dress are impossible! Not just for more balance in the economy do I propose this!

I agreee, the cost of tailored items are to low, no players buy them, and it's barely worth being a tailor, the profit is minimal, and unlike miners or farmers, we can't produce our own thread, unless we hunt, and my character is peaceful, so she wont fo out to kill things, there has to be some sort of advantage to wearing tailoed items over have armour.

yes i agree, tailored items such as the ones listed should be much more expensive, its not really very fair to tailors, but then again who said life was fair ?!

I sometimes sell thread after I have collected it for a while from killing monsters. But the first person I sell it to buys it all and there is non left for anyone else.

While on the topic of "thread"...I also think that thread is way too expensive as the NPC human sells it. Since there is no other way beside fighting to obtain thread, I think the NPC should sell for a much lesser price. As Moathia said, a lot of players have characters that can't or don't fight due to RP reasons...such people are forced to buy from this NPC and thread is a commonly purchased item. Until, a peaceful method to make thread is implemented I propose that the price of thread as sold by the NPC be reduced drastically (I understand the purpose of the high prices of the NPC but for thread an exception should be made.). If you think about it thread really has a ridiculous price that robs tailors of the already small amount of money they make. For example, the highest price of an item made from wool through tailoring is 4 gold coins. One thread costs 2 gold coins. Even if the tailor is successful in making the item he/she ends up making only 2 gold coins. Thread essentially robs tailors of 50% of their profit. And what about starting tailors with little skill? They lose more money than they make because of the ridiculous price of thread!

elaralith cant dresses be sold for 6g? besides tailor some leather items. you would be surprised at how many people buy tailored items, just today i sold a little over two ingots worth, mostly leather items, but i sold some hats and a dress too, not for 1-10g either, i sold a dress for 75g. there are players willing to buy tailored items, you just have to find them, try taking a business approach "selling cheap leather armor"..."its much lighter than metal" instead of "selling beautifully tailored quality flowing dresses" you have to be a little barbaric

@Gro'bul No dresses and robe prices have been lowered to 4 gold coins. So the value of dresses and robes (expensive items for noble people in the medieval ages and even now) have been lowered to something below the value of a mere cake.

err good point, that is pretty horrible.

but leather half and hunting armors sell for 6g each.

Yes, but I don't want to use leather, my character can't stand touching it, she uses sheep wool only.

Just a note, there were poor-quality robes and dresses for the common people. Not only the nobles had them.

we need to make it so only the finest tailors like elaralith and cain and them can enlace jewals in the robes! that would be awsome. i would buy so many. i just love having expensive things, i almost have every item in illarion just because i collect for fun (with the exeption of mage and druid books)

@Elaralith: Please find the post I put somewhere about raising prices that Eliza pays not being something we want to do because of inflation.

inflation? prices are dropping everywhere serpardum

we need more inflation, you can buy bottles for 1 gold from some people nowadays. an ingot can get you pretty good armor than it used to.

@Serpardum I read that post about inflation and I understand, and know about it. But the thing is that if items like noble's dresses should be bought by Eliza for a mere 4 gold then other items like plate armor should be dropped to along that line as well. If that were done I would have nothing to say. But unfortunately that is not the case right now. Plate armor is bought by Eliza for 9 gold...If the prices of items like dresses in tailoring cannot be raised because of inflation I understand, but then it would only be reasonable to have everything else made by the other crafts lowered in value and price as well.
@Caranthir Take a good look at the dresses we have in illarion and you will realize that they are not items meant for mere peasants.
