Really, you would think that people had no life outside of games.
I know it's painful to wait but find something else to do and forget about it for a week then check back.

At the moment, the account accepting person (Yes, one SINGLE person does ALL the work) has to answer several hundred !!! emails EVERY day. With a real live and a job, that is indeed a great problem.

Please watch out for the following :

- When applying, stick to the necessary things. Only put the needed data into your email.
- do NEVER write your email twice or three times.
- read ALL server rules. Read the NAME RULES. Characters you create named "Dragon Slayer" or "Master mage" or "fred123" will NOT be accepted. In these cases, you will NOT get a response.
- write in a form that is understandable. Use punctuation.
- be sure to have a virus-free system. Else, your email will be deleted automatically.

For more data on this, you will find another topic here on the boards.

In some time, there will be another method for character requests.

Until then, stay patient.

Why don't those of you whom only use their laptop...do something more productive...?

Read a book
Get involved in charity work
Make friends (non internet ones...)
Plant a plant
Learn about animals
meditate
Watch educational television...

Ok guys I've been waiting a long time, but I've been doing some looking and here's what I've come up with to do while we all wait for our accounts.
These are all free at the moment.
http://www.project-entropia.com
This site is a free 3D MMORPG

Myrmidia.com
This is free 3D MMORPG with chars that look on par with Everquest characters. Problem is it's in it's beginning stages and you can't do much with it yet.

arianne.com
A 2D MMORPG that's moving into it's 3D stages

Progress Quest
This game is a free MMORPG that's a tongue in cheek. It's characters are the likes of enchanted motorcycles with monsters such as a beer golem, girlscout, cheese elemental, etc.

**Disclaimer** I have not tried any of these games....yet. I'm still waiting on Illarion cause of the emphasis they put on roleplaying. A MMORPG quickly becomes very boring without roleplaying and Illarion seems to know what they are doing in this instance. So even if you do try any of these games, I'd still come back and try Illarion.

Ok, I am doing something other than waiting for my Illarion Account! I am reading the third part of LOTR, I am playing DSA (The Black Eye in English, I think) and many other things like playing Hockey with my friends.
But that don't mean that I am not waiting for my Illarion Account!! I am already waiting for about 5(!!) weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could always get a job. And then use the money to learn to play a musical instrument, or try martial arts. I just watch music channels and stuff in my spare time, oh and I play my console (PS2).

@ Grishnak : PS2 ?
Gee, now you really outed yourself.

@ Elaina : CHEESE ELEMENTALS ? BEER GOLEMS ??

I ALWAYS wanted these !

Don't forget the Demi-Canadians, and Battle Finches. High time to get this topic locked, so I will once again ask THE question. Why don't some more people work on the account system? I'm NOT saying I should be a GM, contrary to GMcFly's beliefs. I'm saying that someone who is already a GM should contrinute to the account system.

Why the work is not divided into more GMs ? Simple.

1.) Overview (does this person already have an account ?)
2.) Coordination (This story here... what kind of story did he get, and who sent it ? )
3.) etc.. etc..

Several GMs would be too ineffective. We would have more traffic asking others about player mails and statuses than the actual player mails themselves...

even though the account sytem would be wrong for this i agrre more gms only for going through the account system there is too long a wait i am still waiting though and i think more gms answering e-mails means more e-mails answered

but i also have a theroy everyone says about 100 e-mails come in a day to this e-mail accounts@illarion.com well then y dont most of them come back to the senders her mail box would be full of e-mails and most would jsut come back to us saying mail resipent coulnd't accept or something but most e-mails go through is she really checkign them as soon as she sees them or marks them all read and then checks them later

whats up Caens

ARGH !!!!!

Use punctuation ! That post of yours is UNreadable.

Of course, emails like THAT won't be answered too. But deleted.

But my mail WAS readable. My name ist also Dendthor and because of this, I don't know, why I haven't got an answer yet. And I am waiting for more then 5 weeks now!!

Well Damien we do have to wonder....
I was accepted and somehow my password was messed up. I sent in an email explaining what happened with who my character was and the password. I received back the questionaire. It appeared to me that she had not really taken the time to read my email. If she did, then she didn't seem to understand English. No offense Cosma if you do, and I appologize now if there is a misunderstanding, but my email was pretty clear especially since it was titled "wrong password".

Instead of just deleting the invalid emails why not just send a reply saying that the email was invalid?

If the email is just deleted the person would be sitting and waiting forever not knowing when they will get accepted when the whole time the email had been deleted.

It would'nt take maybe 2 seconds longer to send a reply rather than deleting.

I'm not talking about replying with an elaborate message but just a short generic message like "invalid email" and it would be done.

Posted: Tue Mar 11, 2003 11:14 pm
by Astral
Then people will want to know why it is invalid, and so on.

The solution to the problem is none other than to have people not post these topics. Remember, you are applying to play THEIR game, so have a little respect. Most people can make the connection that if you don't get a message back, you are not accepted. They don't have any responsibility to tell you otherwise.

@Crocket:
It takes a bit more than two seconds, and that time certainly adds up when you have thousands of emails to answer.

Posted: Wed Mar 12, 2003 12:05 am
by Caens
 Most people say when your not accepted you get an e-mail back tellin you. So therefore I'm guessing she hasn't checked all our e-mails yet. So to those of u saying if we aint gettin an e-mail back cuz we wasn't accepted I don't think thats the case. I could be wrong, but who knows. Personaly I thought I answered those questions pretty good and was hoping since they was sent the same day I sent the first e-mail then there wasnt that many e-mails, but that was 2 weeks ago and I havn't heard from her since.

Would it be possible to have one GM recieving the emails at the accounts email, then randomly forward them to a GM? Then the Gm would send an email back to the person who originally sent the email explicitly telling them to send the return email to them? Then once a player had passed the account set up the GM would did it with them could put there name into a sort of database? I don't think that would create too much conversation traffic.
