Actually there is no difference with races at the moment ezcept graphical but pick a race according to your RP.
For example if dwarfs hate magic as is said don't be a dwarf mage unless you have a sutable rp but for example you can be a miner.
Me I am the human mercenary seeking fame and fortune.

Wrong. Different races have stat limitations. Some races can have more strenght, some more intelligence, etc...

opps my mistake then.
I read somewere that races don't have anything different. oh well.

yes there are differences between races, but it doesnt matter because lizards are the best.
But seriously, there are differences, for example, an elf would get more respect than an orc, and there are hobbits that steal, elves are usually smart except for some bad role players, humans are just normal, and there arent many lizards around though =(. Dwarves are kind of normal and can go into dwarftown/silberbrand freely.

@Zabije cie, what would you like your char to be good at?

Urrrghhh!
I am sick of all these people littering the boards asking what race they should be! If such people cannot make their own minds up, then perhaps they should not even be permitted to play the game.
For the love of the Gods, people....

Now that was just rude! Any way i think you should choose what you think is best. If it ends up not so good get rid of it and get a new character.

I agree it can be annoying when people ask what they should be, afterall they have to act the role of their char, therefore they should decide what to be, but maybe more of an explanation could be implimented into the 'create character' window, detailing the likes and dislikes of each race therefore people also fit the median for their race.

Well ok if you guys are tired of that question....then here's another that you may be tired of. Is playing a bard fun? And if not, what do you suggest in Vocations? I don't know cause I can't play yet but would like to be prepared when I finally do get to play.

At the moment there is no actual skill known as "Bardic Skill/Magic."
It is, totally at the moment a character role.

If that is going to be your name, it sounds orcish, but whatever. Your choice. You have to live with your decision.
be a human. Choose wisely.

The best occupation, in EVERYONE'S opinion, of course,

is to be a fisherman. I can supply rods for starting fishermen.

fishing is fun, but its not very good money.

not at first. I have almost 2000 fish now, though, so it makes money overtime.

paul....thats only 8 ingots.....not very much money, for 2000 bread you could get 24 ingots, but it is more work.

May you stop your small talk here?
This board is for questions of newbs about the game, not for chatting.
You only reach with your nerving chatting here, that people doesn't read any more through this board and all the nonsens postings here and others who really need help won't get qualifing answers.

You can become whatever you can imagine, as long as it fits into the Illarion background. There is no technical way to become a cleric yet, but with a little bit of phantasy and role playing you can still become one.
Priest magic will come one day, it just isn't implemented yet.

Fishing is the best occupation and is simple to roleplay for the beginner roleplayer, and easy to master.
