Status of investigations on Red Cloud Extract

Deanna hangs several parchments one after the other on each board of the alchemy labs in the cities

Status of investigations on Red Cloud Extract - Part 1

The substance was found in the spring of the year 55 during an expedition in which a certain Theophan of Lyr led a group of Illarion's inhabitants to a place where Aldyros Benvolte had obviously hidden something.

The substance was found in a tight tin with the inscription “Red Cloud Extract”. The substance is purple red, much finer grained than regular gem dust, and has a slight mica.

The tin was first kept by Djironnyma, who entrusted it to me shortly before his departure, with the remark that it was a relic from the time of Benvolte.

From the Archmage Morgan I learned some background to Benvolte's story, and that one of his students is still in the country - the dwarf Granor Bergenhieb.

Morgan also told me about an island in the southwest, where Benvolte had often retreated for special experiments. I had myself brought to the island and spent a long time examining the ruines of the avoidable laboratory and its surroundings.

Under a stone slab I finally found a collection of empty cans. Only one of them contained a small folded parchment with the following inscription:

"violet lily - yellow fern - blue grass - red root - grey reed - green trap. A.B."

While A.B. obviously stands for Aldyros Benvolte, the rest of the text was puzzling, or at least this combination did not initially bring any insight from an alchemical point of view.

Back in Runewick, the dwarf Granor was invited to Runewick and questioned. Granor turned out to be unresponsive and it was difficult to get him to support us.
However, as he would obviously do anything to get possession of the substance, he revealed that the substance could be used to make an extremely strong reaction brew.
Whatever the nature of this brew, it has to be made in a special cauldron that is suitable for the heat generated by the reaction. Meriunium is the only possible material for this purpose.
He has only passed on the manufacturing process for such a vessel to other dwarves, namely Tialdin and Drugar.

Status of investigations on Red Cloud Extract - Part 2

In the meantime many different plants had appeared in Runewick, which first appeared outside the town, and later spread throughout the town. Several attempts followed to find an explanation for this. Djironnyma conducted magical investigations, Alrik tried to find clues to the spiritual nature of the phenomenon in the name of the gods, without results. The druids Merung and Falyame explained the presence of the columns and their tainted magic as the reason for the abnormal appearance of these plants.
An alchemical examination of the plants revealed known and completely normal reactions, whereby an interesting reaction occurred with the unknown carnivorous plants, which, however, quite obviously did not provide an explanation for the phenomenon, but only led us to a discovery that Benvolte had apparently made long before.

Especially the appearance of these carnivorous plants caused a great deal of anxiety, also because there had already been victims who dared to approach some of these specimens too close and maybe too long. These plants were a mystery to us.
The text on Benvolte's letter also remained enigmatic.

Finally it was noticeable that the plants mentioned in Benvolte's letter "lily - fern - grass -reed" were all included in the wild plants. But what about "root and trap"? Is red root the fire root? Coincidence provided the explanation. When trying to remove a young fir from the path, its red roots were noticed.
Now the thought of the explanation of "trap" was not difficult anymore. With trap obviously the carnivorous plant must be meant.

Six plants - six ingredients, but what for? This question brought to mind a remark by Granor, who once said that the merinium cauldron must be so big that it must have the contents of six normal cauldrons.

These six ingredients are obviously a recipe that is needed for this reaction brew with red cloud extract.

So what is it about the appearance of these plants? While many of the explanations described so far are based on assumptions or statements by Granor, I am now pursuing a very wild theory that was solidified not too long ago in the course of personal experience of a divine perception with me.

Ushara stands with us. With the help of nature she sends us a sign how to free ourselves from the fetters of unnatural powers. The wild plants are not only nature, they are a sign of nature. Even the behaviour of the carnivorous plants is a natural characteristic for this species. We were just blinded by horror.

With regard to the explanation of the ingredients, the colours mentioned also make sense:
purple lily -> amethyst dust and lily
yellow fern -> topaz dust and fern
blue grass -> saphier dust and grass
red root -> ruby dust and root of young fir
grey reed -> obsidian dust and reed
green trap -> emerald dust and dungle plant

Status of investigations on Red Cloud Extract - Part 3

The previous findings were followed by a longer period of standstill.
In the meantime, the considerations went to the point that we can apparently create a kind of reaction brew with the red cloud extract, which frees us from the existence of the column and portals.
At a town meeting in Runewick the dwarf Granor appeared again and seemed to have changed his mind a bit. At the meeting he appeared stubborn and unforgiving and very obviously questioned the plan. Nevertheless, he got entangled in statements that pointed to a desired effect that could be achieved by using the "extremely dangerous" red cloud extract. Now the speed of the reaction process, the desired direction of action and what purpose this reaction should serve at all were discussed. Here it should be mentioned that Granor was not informed until then, that we have a hint to a recipe with 6 ingredients. He only pointed out before that for the reaction brew all ingredients have to be prepared at the same time.
After the town meeting at which his appearance almost resembled a scandal, he then summarized his hints in writing on the town board, if one can speak of a writing. Therefore I try to reproduce this text here as good as possible:
From Granor to Deanna and the fu... rest of R.

1. bomb + red cloud extract
- use something to slow effect
(to get time for step 2.)
Many neutral stocks?

2. redirect excess potency
(a) add brew to redirect localism
b) add brew to redirect effect

Questions
1.where should the excess potency
directed + defined to? (sky? deeper into earth? water?)
2. what should the explosive effect be change to?
We are still working on these questions.
Together with Grand Master Lennier, I have so far made the following considerations.

A mixture captured by Cadomyr and analyzed by Amanda contains quartz sand. The red powder in the mixture looks like the red cloud extract in our possession.
Could the sand be the retardant we're looking for?
Since a merinium cauldron is to be used because of the expected high heat, Lennier considered cooling this boiler by a double-walled construction from the outside. This could be an answer to the second question.

Cadomyr and Galmair each receive a sample of the red cloud extract for their own investigations.
Runewick is planning experiments with Lennier using small quantities to determine a direction of action.

This is the status of the 3rd Chos 60

Lennier sits in the laboratory of Runewick and studies Deanna's written summary for quite a while. He seems to be grumpy with a headache. Propably the last beer that he drank was stronger more than he thought. He tries to concentrate. "Well, now we have it in black and white," he says to himself, dabbing his forehead with a cold and wet cloth. "Hopefully we have chosen the right path. Any mistake could be fatal." He sighs "As soon as Adron's make my thoughts clear again, I have to start working out the plans for the boiler."

It is about a special boiler that is able hopefully to cool and to buffer a heavy reaction/explosion, which has to directed into the ground below.

1. In the inner will be a cauldron that is made with meridium. The sides must be thick and durable. Here the ingredenties come together and will react.

2. the sides constits of an strong wooden fromwork that is filled with a complexe of ice/snow and bricks/stone. The ice will be helfull to cool and hopefully slower the reaction. The weight of the mass will buffer a possible explosion.

3. A ventil to feed the cauldron and outlet of steam of heated and smelting snow.

4. The bottom is thin and does not get cooled down. Hopefully the reaction get directed to the ground below.

The needed stuff:

The cauldron will be made separated. To build the fromwork we are in need of 120 hammers, 60 hatchets and 60 saws. Furthermore 2400 boards of apple wood and 2400 pins and nails. To fill the fromwork we are in need of 6000 bricks and 6000 stones and 2400 buckets of ice or snow.

To gather and to store the mass of snow anywhere about days and weeks need a solution and has to be discussed.

A small note is added.

I'll take care of the nails and pins.
