The Assistant's work

An assistant's work is never done.
He knew it when he signed up as one to the merchant group. But not even in his wildest dreams did he imagine to have to virtually run the whole trade by himself. Its not that he wasnt upto it, but a halfling does need his time to eat and drink atleast 5 times a day. No, 6.
What was that womans name again?! ohh yeah Hannah. She did offer to give something from her pot if he could keep her some company again as usual. And there is a watering hole nearby too, his legs does need a much deserved soaking.
May be after arranging one more shelf. He took a sip from Borgate's beer and continued.
An assistant's work is never done.

"Lar.."
Not many called him like that. Only a few did ever see him to know his name, not their fault if he didnt feel like socialising with all.
Socialising, hmm... Well for him that meant the occasional information gathering and/or gossip, and ofcourse when his job demanded it; cant avoid that afterall. Baah he would rather not talk, he didnt have time for it anyways.
But he liked Hannah, even though he had to keep reminding himself her name. Her food was worth it, he thought as he walked from the portal hearing his name being called again.
"Lar.."

The soup tastes good and brings back lot of memories.
He thought as he sat down spooning what hannah had offered.
If it were not for the hot bowl of soup that master had offered on that rainy evening, he wouldnt have survived for long.
Introducing himself as Zzrracck 'Purple' the trademaster of Galmair, master had been kind and good listner. In hindsight it might just have been because he had a good trade. Master did say something about caravanning 3000 ingots for a cadomyr Baron. 1000 of it was gold wasnt it ?!
Whatever the case, that dinner had turned out fortunate in many ways. Master found it very amusing and interesting for some reason that a halfling had 'Able' as his family name . It might have been a joke or mere curiosity or even with pity that he offered Lar a deal to work for wage. But it worked out well.
Since then, 'Able is able' became masters favourite saying for encouraging and delegating works to him. And Lar never did stop after that. He had proved himself time and again. The last words before master went away for the weird form of medication and alchemical procedure and the ones when he came back were still the same.
'Able is able'; It makes him stand straighter and feel taller than an elf. And it always... always brings a smile to Lar's face, it does.
Ahh one more ladle of soup more wont hurt Hannah. Hannah wasnt it?
The soup does taste good and bring back lot of memories.

Wait... what?!
Did he hear that correctly when Hannah read it out aloud? The last Dagbladden had reported that master was surrounded by flames.
After all the precautions he had taken to guide master into the town without anyone seeing his veiled eyes and the weird alchemical viewing contraption under the veil; the reporter had somehow managed to find the master in a vulnerable state.
When did he even get out of the bed? Lar had taken him to his former flat. Flat Irmorom was rented out after master went away; true, but apparently the lock wasnt changed. The key under the flower-pot worked just fine. Lar was sure the Quartermaster wouldnt mind just the bed being used for a while. Ohhh yeah he has to send a dove to her , arrange for renting it again and ask her to change the locks.
hmm so much to do , so little time. But 'Able is able'. He will strive to not disappoint his master. Ever. Master wanted to make his appearance at the celebration for the workers at the flats. Oh and then comes the caravan project. hmm and the gambling arrangements.. hmm.. Hannah seems glad to be finally be able to meet up with master again in a few hrs. She has the dresses ready for tonight apparently.
wait ... few hours?! tonight?! what day is it?
Wait... what?!

Phew..
Well that went almost perfectly. In a bit of hurry, but almost perfectly. Had to help master remove the veil to his glasses, with less time than he had hoped to take. Nothing untoward happened fortunately. Oh and it helped that maser doesnt need much time to dress; just a cloak and hat afterall. He did like the new walking stick Lar gifted.
Have to check the glasses Master wears. Soon, to make sure everything is proper. The papers the alchemist had sent with master describes how to maintain the wear and tear. The glasses have apparently a dual purpose as lens and container. The swirling dust inside the container seems to be some form of highly refined gem powder; the likes used for making potions, but more finer. Not sure how it will help master but it worked fine when he had to mix potions on his own. The wires connecting the glasses to his body would need more care, it seems. Chances of infecion are high even though the holes are cauterised perfectly around them. Are they delivering the dust into the brain? not sure. it doesnt seem to need refilling , so it might not be exactly that.
Hmm, anyways. No time to think on it. Have to post enough flyers about the caravann routes and services thats going to offered by us. Ohh and start making the other flyers for the private event. No time at all. Atleast the caravan flyers are almost done with. There thats the last one.
Phew..
