[ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
German first
Hi,

Hi,
I thought of Gothic and then me a skill is invaded. What looked from with blade sharpening ? So for swords and axes - there there more? That would be a cheaper way to upgrade the battle tool. Without getting magic stones reinzupressen. I would certainly be for it, since it is quite realistic and totally necessary for the fantasy / medieval world.
It's only slightly more damage. In Gothic it was only 1/5 of the existing damage.

Toller vorschlag (erneut).

Toller vorschlag (erneut).
Also mit so Steinen.
Wer also Gothic 3 kennt, der wirds gleich verstehen.
Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen

Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Jupiter recommends to consider repairing by players instead of modding the weapon. Limiting this to blades would be unfair for other types of weapons.
My addition: We recently had an inconclusive discussion about players repairing items. Since we have the repair NPCs, this has no priority. And we have the magical gems to mod weapons.

I´m not a developer will only try to make a summary of the GER text / GER discussion
* grind blade - if you use the durability of a weapon you dont need a new skill but you have to take into account the RepairNPC´s and the prices
* includes all weapons not only axes and swords
* may be a small increase of damage - but this must be discussed extra (( Gothic has this feature - 1/5 increase of damage ))
* may be using uncutted / cutted gems and the grindstone for this action
* could be a "new job" for gemgrinder than - would make gemgrinding a little bit more useful and smithes have the most number of things they can make
* level of weapon in relation to the number of gems you need (price for repairing)

Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Correct, i mean only the damage not durability!may be a small increase of damage - but this must be discussed extra (( Gothic has this feature - 1/5 increase of damage ))
I tho, we discuss her about that?
Please!
With Grind blade mean i only MORE DAMAGE ( maybe you will understand it now?)
And not to repair weapons
When you want a skill for reparing weapons, then we must erase the Repair-NPC.
And when you want a skill for reparing weapons, create new thread, this is the wrong thread for repearing weapons
Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Using durability instead of making up an other attribute like "Sharpness" (or similiar for other weapons) has the advantage that we don't need to create yte an other weapon attribute. We already have quality, durability, level, attacked speed and base damage. I think that is more than enough and we don't need an other one. Furthermore, in my opinion, it is a problem that characters cannot repair ( = restore an item durability) but NPCs can. That destorys the market for crafters. If players could do that it would be an appraoch to fix that.

Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
"Additional fine smithing tools;"
---
A whetstone is simply a wet stone.
Erm...u know, a stone wettened by RP with some purple in its name, or yellow, or gold... or some "".
The magical whetstone can only be obtained by according working-class-RP, i suppose.
Out in the mud or earth or Urrrm... Graveyard, alone with your razorblade an empty spool of thread and some dozen mummies, weak skellies and 3x250 apples or more...
Whetstones, carpenters hammers and nailboards!

Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Instead of "sharpening" to boost weapon stats why not have "reinforcement" like the dark souls franchise, you get x amount of materials (usually pretty rare materials) and you get a small boost to your weaponry. The reinforcement would have to be governed by the skill it takes to make the weapon, hammers carpentry, merinium longsword-goldsmithing, but what of armors? Reinforcement could also perhaps boost magic defense in certain items.
It sounds interesting but this coupled with the eventual fix of weapon gems could be op (granted when you put an enormous amount of effort into something being op sounds like a good reward :p)
With an open mind this concept could add some much needed content , but implementation and the extent of it would need discussion, or it won't even be considered *shrugs*

Re: [ NEW SKILL ] Grind blade / Klinge schärfen
Jupiter wrote:We already have quality, durability, level, attacked speed and base damage.
____________
Why not that way, so the market for crafters isn't endangered: to get a small Advantage in damage, others not restorable stats are decreased, like Quality and/or Attackspeed.
