The need for naming characters

This has been a need left out since the VBU. Now I can say, and will show if I knew how to access my logs that it is most needed now.
If a character refuses to give a name, though admittedly has met many times before, My charater should be able to at least know then by sight. Maybe I have to title them as golden hair, blue robe... or apple picker... or what ever jogs my memory. But I should be able to know them. Just like I know my local cashier by site but dont know her name. Yes we have paper dolling, but it isn't that great or unique.
This option has a need beyond the few that refuse to offer fair RP, if I am in a group and hear a name to a certain person, and I take note of that, why cant my character too?
I bring this up after a certain person refused to (( #i )) after she admitted we had met before many times and her name was just spoken.
Something needs to be done.
