Black Squares?

Hello, newbie here. I just downloaded this game after hearing about it on Reddit.

I downloaded the newest version of the game client (2.1.16) for Mac, but whenever I log into the game, all the characters and land features appear as black squares, while the user interface, chat box and ground (grass, paths, water) appear as normal. It's playable, but I can't see what anything looks like. I tried looking around, but it doesn't seem like any one else has experienced this issue.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

EDIT: Here's a screenshot for clarity:

EDIT: And my system specs:

Processor: 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics: Intel GMA X3100 144 MB
Software: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G56)

Just to be sure, did you verify you had all of the minimum system requirements met?

What we tried:

Updating Java

Launching a new loader

Warping to a different place to see if it wasn't just a glitch on noobia

Unfortunately, none of these things worked. I suggested a full uninstall and clean re-installation. The player decided to install the client on a Windows desktop.

Adremore says the windows desktop install is working just fine. Can see everything and not experiencing any issues.

This happens to me often, though not so bad. It is generally because my connection is too slow.

Also, it has to do with my PC. I don't really meet the requirements. I don't have a two core processor. But mine does have hype-threading. When I first tried, it was real bad, then realized my hype-threading wasn't on. Now it is much better. I have found a stable connection is vital but doesn't draw that much data. But this game does push my processor to its limits. Always at 95-100 percent.

If it is possible, change maps, by going through a door or down a ladder, then back. Makes it reload and gives it another chance to render correctly.

Hey, your gfx card has a lot of OpenGL bugs. If the latest driver does not work for you, you are out of luck, I am afraid.
Avoid these silly Intel cards.
