My character is trying to learn ranged weaponry. She was given a sling and a few stones, but cannot seem to use them. I have tried varying distances between her and the target, putting the stones in her hand and in her belt... nothing seems to work. Am I missing something?

Try to switch the hand you hold the stones in.
If you had the stones in the right hand and the sling in the left switch the hands.
