I was thinking there are quite a few drow players and thought that perhaps there should be a drow character model or something than can be distinctive about them on game i do realise this may cause a few problems in that other sub races may want to be included but id just like to hear peoples thought on the idea as i feel it would be a nice touch.

It is spelled "Drow"
And of course "no" there should be no player models of drows, and no players who play "elves" should not claim to be drows.
My 2 Cents

Drows as dark elfs operate in the hidden, so it wouldn't be useful, that every player could regocnize them in the charpicture.

I'm not so sure about drows themselves being implimented, but hopefully in the future all different types of races will be added i.e. high elves and wood elves, and so on.

I dont like much that idea.. at least for now.. most drow characters I know play good, when the history of drows is of evilness... drows are not being played correctly, I don't think, and if it was.. being evil such as the drow history would most likely be seen as pking nowadays... I doubt the ability of drows being played by characters.. if there is the need of drows then let it be with the gms.. you dont need to have a drow blood to feel special as a character.. there are many more ways of doing so.. many more reliable ways.

I think its a good Idea. As for implimentation, that would not be the hardest thing. Just keep the same char model but at a minimum, change the colour of the clothes..tho maybe a differing style of clothes would be better and the hair clolour from black to white.
Just because you are a Drow does not mean you are evil, look up thier history. I mean not all orks go around killing in the name of dominance and to achive status.
For thos of you who know about Drows and their ways you will know that playing one would be a very intresting a fun thing. They are very diffrent in sociaty, relationship, and thought to 'normal' elves almost a seprate race if you will.
I think it is a good Idea and after all what is Illarion about if its not rolepalying and choice. The more things there are to be diffrent for each other (to a certain point) the better I say.

look up thier history
There is no Illarion-History of Drows. The only existing History for Drows is the time where some GM-controlled Drow characters were involved in a quest.
Because of no documentation about them, i dont think player should be allowed to play them.

What makes you want to play a Drow character in the first place anyway?

I like the idea of having options, but you should choose what you can handle.. if you dont know how to play a drow and have enough base for it, then I think you shouldnt play it before knowing how to. I am not saying all drows are evil, I am just saying good drows are a minority and should be kept to a minimum. If you dont understand how to act like your character would then it is best to choose another personality.

@Kalypse - A fair point. But then nobody trule knows how to play an elf or an ork etc. Except from what others tell you and you find out. Even some people play humans bad and they are in real life....Human. (well maybe
@Loki - There is no history for fairys or gnomes but they are (or will be) playable chars according to the illarion web site. So why not drows?. There is as of yet no official history or story for Illarion so there is easily room for them and maybe one or two other races to be added. Aslo as for implimentation..a drow would be easyer than a fairy. As traditionaly fairys fly...Drows don't. Fairys are smaller than most races so how can they use the weapons/clothes/items, biger rces like us use. Now whats going to take more time implimenting.
@Korwin - what makes you want to play a lizard or a human or an elf anyway. Because its fun and a challeng and it suits 'your' personality.
But at the end of the day its up to the guys/girls who's game it is and if 'they' want to have them in it.

Drathe,
speaking of the Illarion-Web page, there are discribtions about every playable (or soon to be) race in Illarion. But i did not found any hint of a "Drow-Character" for a Player.
And Drathe, i never said, thats its a question of implementation.
Its a question of "how to play a Drow
IN Illarion?"
Speaking of "History of Illarion" please look up
http://www.moonsilver.de - offical history page of Illarion.
Also there i did not find how to play a Drow properly in the World of Illarion.
GM's introduced the Drows as an "all evil race".
So are they exeptions ? Yes or No? I cant give an answer, yet only GMs can.
Roke, i think the onlyst reason to play drow, a "good" Drow or a "Drow-Halfblood" is to get a psychical divided Character. You are torn beetween good and evil in you, represended by your two absolutly different orgins.
Well, you can play that without drowblood in your characters viens as good as with, in my eyes even better without.
Yours,
Loki
Edit:
Somewhere i read, that drows do not make interspecies breeding. They are much to proud of thier own strength and hate other races for thier weaknesses. So are Halfbloods even possible ?

@Loki - ok fair point I eat my words about the history, but that does not mean new races can not be introduced. History is always being changed and re-written

as for description ahh that can easily be put in..just because its on the web site does not mean its set in stone. But the history of illarion would not tell 'how to play a race' maybe give you a few clues but its about the history of the place and gives the game some flavour.
True you wernt talkin of implimentation It was just a point i wanted to add.
you said 'You can play that without drowblood in your characters viens as good as with, in my eyes even better without.' I totaly agree with you..but It would be nice to see another race char. I mean think of the possabilitys for storys and rp'ing from having the two elven halfs. Thing that you just cant get from other races. I mean what if a elf fell in love with a Drow..now that would give some real good rp'ing oppertunitys what with other oppinions of drows.
'Drows do not make interspecies breeding. They are much to proud of thier own strength and hate other races for thier weaknesses.' very true (or so the storys go.) But it only takes a rape or a strong love for it to possibly happen.

Drows who are "good" or halfbred drows would be a very rare exception (i myself don't believe there to be any at all), but it seems every second elf who comes to illarion wants to call themself a drow, most of which just want to be a drow because they think the "dark elf" image is "cool". I'm all against implementation of drows, as all of a sudden there are dozens of good drows in the world or most of which don't know how to play a drow anyways.
Btw, why do people always mistake Korwin for Roke?

That's the whole problem Drathe, people don't seem to pick characters because of the personality they want to play. The choose a race they like, then usually use whatever personality they feel like. So you can't say "I choose to be a drow because it suits my personality. Few times have I seen elves who have personalities like that of a drow.
