Town ranks

Hello everyone.

Just wondering what order the ranks are in each town and how they benefit or change anything for your IG char.

One of my Characters lives in Cadomyr and ive been trying to get him from a squire to a knight but when I finished my last quest he was given a Lord title. That's awesome and I prob was a knight before but was that busy questing I didn't notice.

I am pretty sure that it goes Squire, knight then lord but there is still alittle bit of confusion.

Was hoping someone would shed abit of light on the question?

Ah ok, as far as I´ve seen its a little bit confusing in the german version. After getting a lord the notar of Cadomyr greets me after asking for my rank with "Guten Tag Herr XY". After getting awarded with the rank of a knight he does this also, so I wasn´t sure which rank I´m already was.

I was under the impression that a knight serves a lord? But then again that's in RL, this is illarion and there lore applies.

So after "Guy who owns a swathe of land" we become "Guy who runs a manor". Broken Feudal system is you ask me.

This are the titles of Cadomyr in Illarion, not of england/germany/whatever in rl - so who knows, ask the quween

Proposals are always welcome, but keep this in mind: The "ranks" used there were never "defined" IRL. A reeve once ran whole towns and districts for the crown while a knight was a simple mounted warrior who owned an acre. This changed over time. I oriented mainly on this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_and_noble_ranks

The german translations, of course, are sometimes not really that accurate. A "Herr" is, nowadays, a nobody, e.g. your neighbour. Also, a reeve and a Vogt are not really the same.

So, if you are an expert(!) in noble ranks, please contact me and we can improve this. And yes, these are the ranks in Cadomyr, not England or Germany.

So while we´re on the topic of ranks: I assume the names of ranks are different in Galmair and Runewick? Novice or something like that in Runewick isn't it, what kind of system do they follow if Cadomyr follows a noble system?

Are there ranks above the 4th rank? ie. Is there something higher than reeve?

Only Cadomyr has daily quests, right. But if you do a favour to the Don, he might award you with a higher rank as well...

If anyone wants to help this game, scripting daily quests for the other towns is not difficult :-).

So ... Galmair has quests that can take you to lvl 2 max? that is kind of discouraging, especially for me, a newcomer.. Seems kind of strange that the game was launched with enough quests only in one single faction, unless it was intended for players to only move in that one. I hope this was not the case, I wouldnt want to have to remake my char now because I picked the wrong faction

More quests will be added in time to every faction's realm, I'm sure. For the time being, you're not actually stuck in the faction you first selected should you decide you prefer another. You can visit the census office in Galmair (or any other faction that your character presently belongs to) and give up your citizenship by speaking to an NPC there. You can gain citizenship elsewhere by going to that faction's realm and speaking with an NPC in that realm's census office. There's no need to delete/recreate characters in order to switch factions. You will have to pay a fee, but it's a small one. I think my character paid something like 10 silver coins?

Galmair, nothing wrong with getting promotions at the hand of the Don,makes for a good reason to get ingame and please the Don with your dedication(rp' should determine promotions).
Also i think it serves much better in a town like Galmair ,rather than have automatic daily quests to raise your rank (how dull ) .
Right now the Don and the Protector are looking for leading citizens to fill rolls of resposibility ,this is a promotion is it not???
perform well in a roll and im sure rewards will be forth coming.

Thanks

Assistant is only the second rank, so yes.
