Problem with the boards...

It seems that whenever I try to browse the boards, 3/4 of the time I end up with a "This page cannot be displayed" message (It just started within the last couple of days). Just wondering if anyone else was having this problem.

I've had a similar message for about 2 weeks, just reload the page, it works for me.

I have noticed the same. In ca. 50% it happens, that the message occurs: Side was not found. With reloading the page, it than works well.

Edit: also when posting a message

Not having the same problem I can just suggest, but maybe it's helpful for you.

Suggestion 1: The board uses lotsa JavaScript, maybe JavaScript is deactivated or you browser can't interpret it in the right way.

Suggestion 2: The board uses cookies. Maybe your browser doesn't support cookies or is not able to send them at the right time/does only send it when you click the refresh-button.

Possible Solution: Check your browsersettings or try another browser. If the error does also occur with the other browser, the error is not caused by your browser. Cool, heh?

I don't think that things like this change day-by-day. I have been using these boards since the day the new website came online, and without any problem like this. It seems to be there one day and fixed the next.

The problem seems to be that the server is in Germany, and it can be a bit laggy at times to certain people in the US and such.

It seems to happen the same time I get lag in the game, when no one else is getting lag.

In this we are at the mercy of the internet.

@ Serpardum
I live in germany and had this problem one day, too, as I wrote above.
But it was only on the day, I posted it. Now the boards work again.

hmm...My problem is a bit different... I have to continously press ctrl-refresh, as the pages that open are always several days old... this is very very strange, and quite ennerving.

Maybe the date of your system is not up to date? So your PC loads up pages from your cache, which are "newer", as the PC thinks.

or he may use a proxy which caches the page...

This might be the right solution to the browser loading the wrong pages.

Go to Tools>>Internet Options>>"Under the 'Tempoary Internet Files' Settings>>"Look Under 'Check for newer versions of stored pages.' and see what it is set on, Most likely set it on automatic, or set it on always if you have a broadband connection and want to but I reccomed automatic.

Benutze die "Zurücktaste" deines Browsers, dann ist die Seite wieder da mit deinem Text und dann einfach wieder auf "absenden" drücken und dass solange wiederholen, bis es klappt. Irgendwann kommt "page not found" nicht mehr.

Liegt also nicht an uns :D

aber stellt eigentlich kein problem dar, ich gehe dann halt zurück und probiere es nochmal, dann klappt es auch meist :!:

I have Javascript deactivated (and read the boards often). The problem never occured to me.

Connections between german computers can be lagged too...

If this is the case, then how did the "page not found" website got into the cache? At least one time there must have been an error. (Same for the proxy suggestion).

Another problem, this time I think it's just my machine though... Occasionally I get the message "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 25165824 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3840 bytes) in Unknown on line 0" when trying to navigate the boards. After closing IE and reopening it, it works fine - for a while.

I get this strange problem on the boards where it logs me out for some reason (not from inactivity), and then when I log back in, all the new topics get marked "read".

Check that your cookies are set properly, that can cause problems. It is normal to have all posts marked read when you log back in though.

It's always worked fine and I haven't done anything to my cookies lately. I never noticed that everything new during your last visit becomes read on the next visit, but maybe that's just me.

When you do something like close your internet browser, it should mark all posts as read when you revisit the website. Just browsing to a different page and then returning is fine.

Hallo

in such case try an other browser to verify the problem.

Yes, there are problems with the web server, so that the web server (software) has to be restarted every once in a while.

There is a work around we can do that would automaticaly reset it every day, but then we would never find out what hte acutal problem is.

I think that if we can't find a solution any time soon, we will just have to have it automatically restart teh web server software every day.

Massage:

Invalid-session

It just comes when i writte long answers which need some time to be written. Maybe someone is able to declar it to me...maybe in german? I don't think that i will be able to understand that in english...i have problems to understand my computer in german as well...
