The final grain

As the diamond scarred man lifted his hand, he watched with content as the white sands of Sirani escaped through the cracks of his withered fingers.
"This..."
He spoke in a gentle hiss. Watching with knowing eyes. Watching it fall. A single glance toward the stars would light his tired thoughts. They grew with acquired optimism as he admired the eternal sparks of light.
"All of this... Tas' built up toward a moment. This very moment, in time."
A shrewd eastern wind blew the final grain from his palm. Kneeling, he placed both of his hands softly onto the dunes.
"These doors shall release a blinding light. A Perilous darkness. A new world unto this."
Taking from his pocket a severed finger from a victim past, he drew in the sand the image of a diamond with a centre piece of crescent moon and flaming hand.
" Tis' the end.
Tis' the beginning.
Be ready, Gobaith."
