Rules to follow - Not to sound out of term or anything...

But inorder to have a "realistic" world as Bror expect, why are there rules?  There shouldn't be rules that have to be followed or to be punished by god.  When's the last time you see a bank robber walks out of a bank and just get zapped by lightening?  When's the last time a murder walkes out of his hideout and just got hit by landslide?  Whe's the last time a thief picks your pocket and happen to tip over and fell on his face accidently breaking his throat and dies?  When's the last time a person who decide to pop his legs off with a pistal and accidently backfires his gun into his head?  Not likely to be yesterday or 2 hours ago now, is it?  So why should there be law for the game that will be punished by god?  The "real" world is balanced with good and evil, so I'm suggesting, if we want to help Bror make a good "realistic" world, we should maybe trim the "rules" down a bit, and make more player made rules so that ppl can punish those who doesn't obay, and god don't have to get involved as much...

Which rules exactly are you referring to?

I guess he isn't refering to rules which belong to Illarion, since none of his examples above would be threatened with punishment by the Illarion rules.

i guess he hasnt read the illarion-rules yet...
otherwise he wouldnt post that. the rules say things like:
dont do powergaming
no repeat-killing
RolePlay!
....

so its not about crimes your chara could do, but about things you as The Player shouldnt do.

I think the only rule he is referring to is no casting in town, and i don't think
anyone has been punished for that ever.

That rule was made by the people, and has been accepted by almost all guilds and individuals. And yes, several people have been punished for that - payed with their lifes after several warnings.

3, 6, 7, and 9 seem a little more applicable.  I tried to not dirrectly use in-game words to make them sound too outstanding.  But if you guys want, I'll list em as well...

3.  When's the last time you insult someone's race and god say, "ok, you'll be crippled for life..."

6.  When's the last time you try to make a point and say stuff over and over, and god say, "you can't talk for the next 5 hrs..."

7.  PK... well, it's obvious.  Killer walks out of washroom and slips the break his head on the toilet sink....

9.  Pistal (magic) shooting lag, trying to get rid of the stupid flesh eating bacteria, and bam, back fire on your head(instent death).

Well...  I guess these rules should be made into player managed rules instead of hard coded into game so that it's more realistic.

Bror, I know that you'll probably say I like to power game since I've been against the rule 9 the whole time it's created.  I guess I do like to do that a bit, firing magic at air, or myself for 5 10 min is often quite fun, but I don't abuse it... However, the others, they should be more to the player side rather then you guys...

I can only repeat what I have said: none of the above is threatened with punishment.

You may think so. But if that is not done, then we have people like Darkwalker, who go on a killing spree and kill and kill just for fun (and because of their intense powergaming no "normal" player can have fun anymore).
This is a roleplaying game, and there are always people who think, to kill the most others is the sense of it...
To keep illarion a roleplaying game, and not a Tibia-like massacre-game, these rules are definitely NECESSARY.

None of the penalthies you have posted above applies to the situations you have mentioned.
Learn the difference between "In Character" and "Out Of Character". If a Lizard is discriminating a dwarf because of his race, this is no subject to be handled by the rules. If a PLAYER from country A cusses against a PLAYER from country B because of his nationality, then the rules apply.

@ Damien:  power gaming do take the point out of games like this one, but that is only when intensive pg are done.  Small amount of pg like training with each other is not and should not be considered a punishable pg.

@ Bror: As I've said, I don't want to break any laws, so if I were to argue with a game admin, I can only come out on the losing side.  Let's drop this topic and just move on eh?  Some of the points had been made, well, we can just forget about the others.
