i have 2 of the same skill

okay..so one of my char's is trying to learn ancient and i cant because I have the same skill twice..my library research skill is in the skill list under Magics and General. any recommendations besides remaking my char??

Its fine, they merge into one after you log out.

Or at least they always do for me.

Your library research skill appearing twice is a known thing, and it isn't a bug or a problem. Once you log out, they'll merge into one. Then when you read a book again, it'll happen again. I'm assuming this is something that will get fixed in the VBU.

As to learning Ancient, your 'library research' skill appearing twice has nothing to do with it. There are specific things your character needs to do in game to learn ancient.

okay..i have all of the skills..and it never merged so i remade my char.

If you have an ancient book and you're not learning the right skill, then it could be because:

A) Your character isn't intelligent enough
B) The Ancient book isn't "Signed". Get someone who knows ancient to 'sign' it for you.

Does your char have a mage teacher? The best thing to do is to talk to him/her.

That would be me. I'm completely uncertain as to why the book isn't working.

"you understand nothing of the things written in this book" and it got me to a light blue library research skill on the plus side. and its not my stats. i have max human stats for a mage. so max INT WIS ESS. any ideas??

Last I checked ink no longer exsisted..is it still obtainable somehow?

After a little bit of hunting around, ink can be obtained from an NPC in the Magic Academy. It does seem to have been removed from drops as far as I can tell though.
