The chat on the main page dosen't work fro me for some reason.
The page loads, I click 'run', click 'run' again. Then i just get a white box that says "error. Click for details"

First things first. The chat client is a java applet. So if you have stuff which blocks applets (like NoScript) turn it off.

Also did you try the magical "Clear temp files and refresh"? (ctrl + shift + r if you're on firefox)

That said, you can get any irc client you want - the server is quakenet, and the room is illarion

The second box that i clicked 'yes' to was asking me if i wanted to block the application.

just restart the browser you were using and click "no" when it asks if you want to block the application when you try again. if i dont remember wrong, which i do allot, i had to restart my computer entirely to fix the problem.

nach dem letzten (heutigen Update der Java Console auf 6.0.33, 25.06.2012) kann ich den Chat in Firefox 13.0.1 nicht mehr aufrufen, im IE9 geht der Chat ohne Probleme
keine Ahnung warum es nicht mehr geht

--> Irgendjemand eine Idee oder eine Lösung?

An einer Lösung wird derzeit gearbeitet. Das Ergebnis wird mit dem nächsten Update der Homepage veröffentlicht.

A new chat client has been implemented and will be active imminently (once vilarion pulls the update)

* als Zwischenlösung ginge vielleicht auch die parallel INstalation von Java 7
- Illarion läuft bei mir mit Java 6
- der Chat mit Java 7 (unter Firefox 13) ohne Probleme

Zwischenlösungen sind nicht nötig, da das Applet in Kürze ausgetauscht wird. Wie oben geschrieben muss Vilarion nur noch "auf einen Knopf" drücken.

ich gehe mittels eines O2-Sticks von meinem Notebook aus ins Netz.
BIs vor Kurzem hat das ja auch Alles wunderbar funktioniert - nur eben jetzt nicht mehr.
(die IP Adresse ist jedesmal wenn ich ins Netz gehe eine Andere)
& mein Notebook kann es eigentlich auch nicht sein.
Schade.

It appears that somebody who had the IP address you have been assigned was previously banned from Quakenet.
O2 will assign you another IP address in a period of time decided by them or you could always try disconnecting and reconnecting to see if you can get a new one that way

i have tested it twice ....
with 2 different IP adresses ....
--> but i test it again (3rd different IP adress) and
FAILED
seems this is not a IP adress problem

da ich bis jetzt icht bei QuakeNet IRC angemeldet war ...... bleibt mir wohl nichts anderes übrig als dies zu tun oder ausgesperrt zu bleiben

My IP address is BLOCKED by their DNS blacklist, as well.

Unfortunately the DNS blacklist is something out of our control.
They have it set up as many spammers would use the ip addresses to spam the network pretty much the same way everyone receives email spam.
It is nothing you have done but whoever leased the IP address before you.

There are workarounds, however it would require access to another chat client or somebody that is not also IP banned to help you...

The way to do it would be to log on to quakenet as an unauth'ed user with the players chosen name as their nickname - for example when i set up PO Jerems I used GolfLima as he uses that name on the forum and IRC.

They would then need to register with the command: (email address being the email address of the person the account is being created for if they can't get online at all)

An email will be sent to their email address with their password.
To log on to webchat they need to click on the "Log in to Q" link instead of the "Join Chat" link and enter the username they chose and the password provided in the email address.
