Ok due to the fact i'm pretty rubbish when it comes to the tech side of things what just happened? One moment half way to caelum, next I'm back at the cross where I was a good hour or so ago

if the server crashes, its not able to save your position. And your items. Those 'll only save correct, if you ESC correctly too.

and there was me walking around trying to lose my halfer some weight when all of a sudden, he gets zapped back to the fat beastie he was

There's a force field round Caelum to stop you getting in.
