I was wondering if it would be hard for us to create a government. We could create a democracy, have town meetings, and serve the king/queen. What do you guys think? Would it be too hard, or too complicated, what do you guys think?

Has been proposed before. Perhaps when most of the players are "civilized" a government will be possible.

It's possible, but for now the short answer from me is yes it's too hard.

alright, too bad, i think it would be cool, to usher Illarion into a new era, but it would be pretty hard. Oh well, maybe later we could do something like that.

A "government" is possible now. A government is an RP thing.

You could very well go about creating a government. It would be like a large guild. In the future the government could purchase a town, and they would rule that specific collection of buildings.

LOL, dwarftown
How about - Sansonicville? Santropolis? Sansonic? Sansonic-al-a-Ville?
ummmmmm, SanSanSanSanSan?
All good ideas
The whole government thing has been discussed waaaaaaaaay back when, and we decided there would be too much spite hassle and assassination ;P lets face it, if you have a player weaker than you who bosses around what you do or says and you see him strolling along a dark bypass all alone, what would YOU do???
Its pretty clear to everyone

thats why we create a democracy, plus just like with the government that we have in the U.S., there are bodyguards, and security to make sure that nothing like that happens. Plus, the King shouldn't boss everyone around, he has people to do that for him. But whatever you guys decide, it all depends on you!

Isn't that what kings are made for, to boss people around?

Posted: Sun Dec 01, 2002 7:44 pm
by Talith
well, if they want to... DOnt they usually have other people do the bossing around?

But the king, bosses those who he wants to boss other people around.

we are NOT a monarchy. kings and such....at the MOST lets get a preseint and elect. so such a thing. they propose a law, it is voted on by everyone....dont think a goverment is needed overly much though...

I don't like that democrazy-thing!
But on the other hand, I don't like that monarchy-thing, either!
We have a good working anarchy, why change it?

If you think you can make a government, then go do it.
Like I said, it's too hard right now. If you don't believe me, take your best shot and prove me wrong.

Well, the thing preventing anyone from forming a working government, is that no-one can really claim the land of Troll's bane. IT belongs no-one and everybody. You don't really have any reason why YOU should rule.
This applies to both Monarchy and Democracy.
They player-made cities and lands will remove this problem, 'since we built this, we are allowed to decide how we rule'.

1.First we will need a guild that will patrol the city guarding it and solving crimes
2.Second some bodyguards for the king because there is surly going to be one or two angry citzeins that will try to do a assasination plan on the king
3.Tird who will be the king and who will take the first stand
P.S sorry for my English

...
The one of thousand souls, do you not think that having a king should be something all of Trollsbane would have to decide on?

I agree with mishrack.
Lets not jump out of the cliff yet, shall we?

If a bunch of people get together and declare a king, how could you stop them? It may not be YOUR king though...

by Caranthir the great
I think majority would ignore them, unless they would be powerful enough to either bribe or kick most on their side.

It depends who that "bunch" of people are. There was a time when certain representitives of our population could have easily selected a governor or government, and most of the people would eventually follow. Unfortunately, that time is no longer existant.

The most new players and chars would be ignore a general king for all. Or they would be against him.. Its sad
So, the drawftown project is the best way and has the best chances... a kingdom/gouverment for a limited number of people...
It`s the same like the ally between the Order Grey Light and the Knights of the Grey Rose...

goverment isnt needed more than what we have...
if anything, lets jsut eledct 5 or 6 people to make the major decistions. think this was said, not sure. dont remember what it is called either. anyways, an election should be taken in the forums. someone makes a thread witha pole. the top 5 people weill run Troles-Bane...not as insane power freaks though...

ya, Drogla's idea makes sense, why not have an elected official (most likely female

, cause people respect them a lot) that everybody likes, such as people like Korwin, or Helios, or Reda, etc. A lot of people I know respect these, and probably wouldn't mind having them rule over them.

Why this sudden urge of kingship?
There was the council of seven, but it was shot down..
IF you remember that..
