Survey for Fighters

I've noticed that the amount of 'work' for smiths seems to be suffering. Smiths usually make most money from armour. So I'm asking fighters to kindly fill this 'survey' so I can see what the 'problem' seems to be. This isn't an official thing, I'm just trying to understand so I can propose changes.

/////Copy Me////

What main armour do you use?:
Where did you obtain the armour from?:
How long ago was it obtained?:
-
If you use 'practice armour', what do you use?
Where did you obtain the armour from?
How long ago was it obtained?
-
How 'skilled' is the fighter? - Just give a general impression
What kind of armour you use in general? Light? Heavy?

//stop copying here//

For obtaining - please pick one:

A) Monsters
B) Player Smith
C) Treasure Map
D) NPC vendor
E) Other (gifts et cet)

Thanks.

My char has spent about 120 silver coins on smithed goods during the last three real time months, you are just not online often enough to sell much. There are also two more smiths in Bane, who are both highly skilled and more active than you.

Yeah I know, that's why I'm not jumping up and blaming it already - I just want to see how many people actually BUY from smiths, and whether the armour lasts too much or not.

I blame it mostly on rumors.

Somewhere along the way someone made up the rumor that magical elven armor is some kind of super great armor (when it fact its actually not very good, most it does it provide medium defense with little magic drawback). So alot of people will simply hunt for these 'rare' armors and not use anything else. The same goes for Shadow plate (in this case the armor is much better then magical elven but still)

Heavy armor can ruin ones ability to dodge to the degree where i've seen people pass it up entirely. taking minor damage will never be better then taking no damage (a sucesssful dodge) Imo

But i think if you want to talk armor you need to speak of more then the chest piece. The rest of it counts as well.

Though lets not pretend that its the fault of armor that there are never any smiths around to cover the demands of people around them

What main armour do you use?: Magical elven/Chain shirt (chain pants, steel gloves, chain helmet, steel boots)
Where did you obtain the armour from?: Map/NPC's
How long ago was it obtained?: 4 months (magical elven chest piece) 1 month-2 months (chain armor and the rest due to the occasional replacements)
-
If you use 'practice armour', what do you use?: (Same as above)
Where did you obtain the armour from?: (same as above)
How long ago was it obtained?: (same as above)

How 'skilled' is the fighter? - Just give a general impression~ yellows
What kind of armour you use in general? Light? Heavy?: Light

I'm not a fighter, but I always use Magical Elven Armour which I obtained probably from a YR map whenever the hype around them first started. Well over a year ago. No fighting skillz (well, turquoise) and I either use Magical Elven or nothing. Counts as practice armour too.

I just want to see how many people actually BUY from smiths, and whether the armour lasts too much or not.
I never buy armor or tools from NPCs and the only monster-dropped ironware I use are serinjah-swords and scissors.

Armour lasts very long, same as clothes. My first silversteel served me a very long time, during which I was fighting regularly, but it never lost even one single level of durability. It rotted away eventually, when I had to drop it on the ground. All following armors were lost due to being ghosted and one was stolen.

I would have thought that something like Magical Elven Armour would be a rather rare find, certainly not something that could be found being donned by your ordinary, average warrior. And yet it seems that everyone and their mum owns a suit.

Anything to make uzpwngud!!!1! I guess.

Considering magical elven armor serves no great purpose for the classic fighter its not that odd. The thing about it is that it's not rare because it's not really that great (unless you use magic). And is in fact one of the lesser defensive armors in the game

it's all hype ^^ it's not rare, it's not uber at all. Ugly old plate armor provides more defense then magic elven.

but magical elven is shiner, maybe if more armor doubled as a flashlight people might be more diverse.

Funny thing is he'd probably enjoy more talking to a picture of himself than to a real person. :B

The fighters not only buy from Smiths, but tailors and cooks. I hope the prices, items to buy isn't increased drastically. Not knowing much of other fighters, and just from my own experience, it would be difficult if not impossible if no loot to be able to train particularly a newly made fighter especially in the winter months in game.
