Currency

When the mainland becomes accessible, and the different towns for the races made, I think there should be different currencies for each race. And, in the towns, only money of the race is accepted, and you'd have to exchange the money you have for the race's money. Depending on which race's currency you have, it could equate to the other race's money, or it could be more or less.

Was that coherent?...

And where you can change the money from the different races?
In the shop?

In my opinion its a little bit needlessly, i believe the land will never becomes so largely, that more then one currency will be need.
For example, if a dwarf walk a few hours to reach the town from the humans, i would say ok.
Maybe a trader have then more work with changing money, as with interacting with other players ;-)

What do you suggest the currencies would be?
I doubt we should start using pounds, dollars and euros here...

The idea was already planned before, you can find it under "economy" in the webpage.

I think gp is just fine becaus gold is not really money but a valuable substance like silver bars.

Also the dollar used to be backed up in gold bot now it isnt but that shows that the dollar is a title (or used to be) to an amount of gold or valuable material

It is needless to sa that gold by all peoples has always been considered valuable.

It is needless to sa that gold by all peoples has always been considered valuable.
that's not quite true... We only attribute goldit's value because it isa relatively rare metal. Take for example the Aztecs, they only used gold for religious statues and such, and as such it wasn't really very valuable tothem, except from a religous point of view.
Also the dollar used to be backed up in gold bot now it isnt
that is not quite true either. Every country has a gold reserve, which they keep in a special bank, which is then called National bank. This gold, relative tothe ammount of the national currency in circulation, and the international demand for that particular currency makes up it's value. So gold is quite significant when it comes to the value of currencies.

anyway, just“another little histo-politi-socio-economic lecture...dont pay any attention to it

Fort Knox, Fort Knox

Well, the gold itself is valuable, and always has atleast the value of the gold (weigth of the money) but the actual value of the coin comes from complex deals and treaties made by the parties (I.E. Goverments/countries/Kindoms) which manufactor currency.
Or then it is set by the rulers of the country, but if done by this way the value is propably lot lower in other countries.

But I am all for this proposal, thought it might have some problems to implement it, and it might not work quite as in real-life, but surely it'd give the races some more identity.

On the topic of currency, why not make it possible to make gold bars like the silver ingots? I know Mishrack would like more gold, wouldn't you?
