Unable to start on the Mainland

Quick question: Why is my account, one from around 2006, way before Noobia was even conceived, unable to start anywhere else? I am hoping to get the actual start package when I come in with my skills and such, so if you would kindly correct this error, I'd me most grateful.
EDIT - If it helps, the thumbnail below links to what I am seeing, and I'm told there is a way around this by being able to select a place on the mainland. Is this correct? Or is this a bug that hasn't been fixed yet?

Just make a 'test' char and make a second char, the second one will be able to start out in the mainland. Had the same problem,

You have to do noobia one time, as far as I know, then you can start on the island

But anyway you must have one char in your account that's already passed through noobia. Just make one, do noobia once and leave that char in your account and then there's no problem.

Well you should know that the game Illarion takes place on the island of Gobaith, not the mainland.
