Ok so does illarion work with win xp? My friend is trying to play shes gettin the black screen and the CLosing Connection: The network connection is currently too slow! Check back later! Another reason might be, that you are flooding the Server with commands (with macros for examle). , i told her what to do, dont start from desktop shortcut, etc etc shes tried redownloading, everything, nothigns working. Any suggestions?
And no she isnt behind a firewall or lan.

She is behind 3.3k modem?
'You did not unzip all the files into the Illarion Folder. Make sure that especially the *.tbl files are there'
Perhaps it's with her machine`?
What kind of computer has she got?

Just to let you know, I have WIN XP and I can play, it must be a problem with the comupter, or installation, or something to do with her internet options, I have no idea as my brother has the technical know how on this kind of thing.

It would be, of course nice to have opinion of the people who have designed the game-system *cough cough*

sounds like they are not running the game from within the illarion folder.
Sounds like they copied teh .exe to the desktop and are runnign that instead.
Have them go into the illarion folder and then run illarion.exe

And if nothing else works have them rapidly shake the monitor whilst shouting sladerous insults about how the computer doesnt work . . . sure it's not the monitors fault and nor will it fix it, but it sure will relieve some stress.

if she has a firewall, that might be stoping it from accesing the internet.
Try tuning the fw off for a bit and try it.

If your computer doesn't work, you should use pokemon stickers to torture it. My old computer was full of them, it really works! No kiddin!

Halllo
dont use windows XP
btw win xp has an built-in firewall
you can use the compatibility mode for illarion (win 9x will work fine)
if u have a shortcut u can select this mode via the shortcut properties (you can create a shortcut within your illarion directory)
Bye
Read ya

I have the built-in firewall turned on, and I don't have to run it in compatibility mode, so I doubt it's that.

But perhaps she should try Captain-sir's suggestion, for It is the only one we've had.

This is a normal error message and should appear to every Illarion player.
