German talking should be unlegal

German talk is Boring to listen at. It shouldn't be legal to talk german will playing! it destroy the fun for Americans or english mens and others. like when i was on today, i was siting in tevern and drinking beer, the other peeps that was there did talk german. so i leaft the tavern and did walk to the smithing arena. ther i did meet ONLY germans! (or one americaner).
i think that is why peeps start get the best skill you can have, they got nothing to do and starts to dig a hole and after that they starts with something else.

Think that was all

Huh...you're funny!
Maybe we should forbid "English-Talking". (Just a joke...)
There're many, who cannot speak english, or do this not as well, to express themselves.
Do you know how long it takes for me to create a proper english sentence, or a sentence, that says what my Char feels?

This is a very useless suggestion!

And by the way...if you go later "on", you will meet a lot of "english-speaking" peoples.

(It takes only 6 minutes... )

err... Bander... I wouldbe very careful what I said if I were you...
you do realise this is a german game, right?
as in madein Germany by germans at a german university. The servers are in germany, and most GMs andother people that havbe worked on it are german.Heck, Im sure there were nothing but germans in this game the first year it was up or so...
so, don't criticise this. actually, when it comes to it this is one of the few games that are NOT amercian or english and it is the only one worth playing...think about THAT...
#me grins

i was in the tavern and i talked german because my english isnt good and i talked with friends. if someone ask me something in english i try allway to answer in english. if english fiend of me present i try to speak english, but often i can't find the right words, then i say nothing or if germans present i say something in german.

if you dont understand the german people use the situation for roleplay. if you are in chinatown you cant say that all the chinese people must talk english. you can try to converse with the people in english and i am sure you get allways a answer.

ps: sorry for my bad english

Germans have to learn English in School. Why can't English or American people learn German? German is a hard but beautiful language!

I agree with Elkrim, that is funny.

If i remember me correctly, i heared that the developer from Illarion are mainly germans;-)
And the server you use, have "his" place likely in Germany too.
And you will germans forbid to speak german in their own land? *grins*

And when i play to later times Illarion, i will meet almost only "people" which speak english.
And to this day i hadnt the idea to forbid english, and i cant understand all what they say, too.

I hope you think over your opinion/suggestion again.

Yes, I do agree with you (Not you-you who posted this thread!)
But, I do find it annoying time-to-time when someone comes to talk to me and I don't have any clue of what he/she says..
And then the usual "Excuse-me-I-can't-any-german-in-english-pleeease"..
(Okay, my german isn't THAT bad, I understand more than you'd guess  but writing is, well, another thing.. )

That's the same for me in english...
I understand everything you "english-speaker" say.
But to write down, what I think is very very hard...
Because I fear my english

Don't Dwarves and Elves have their own languages? I tried to learn German once, but I only have the tiniest of books, and now I have lost it, so it seems sort of . . . arrogant not to learn German, after all, it is Germans who made the game and they were kind enough to make an English version!

I think this thread should be closed...
And we forget what Bander said ;)
Just my opinion 8)

@Bander Bigfoot

How dare you! The utter gall!

Restating what everyone has said, this game was written in Germany, by Germans, on German computers, and is running in Germany.

You would dare say that they should not speak German because you don't understand it?

Yes, I am an American, I understand English, I dont' understand German at all. And even in posts talking about development 75% of them are in German and I have no clue what the other developers are talking about. The only suggestion I have made is that if they have a question specifically for me they should make it in English or I won't reply because I didn't read it.

You should feel honored to be a guest of a German game, for that's what you are, a guest. They allow us to speak English, although most of the Germans playing this game don't understand it.

My suggestion to you is to get some manners.

I agree with you Serpardum. I have learned a few simple words/phrases in german however I am nowhere near being able to comprehend a conversation in German, perhaps I shall try to learn it in the New Year. I believe that as long as people are speaking in their language of their choice, as long as it is not a made-up one. This game represents how people from different cultures can communicate and have fun together and I am proud of being a part of this project. Thank you all.

i was just wondering something, why is it the person who posted this topic, was complaining about how everybody should speak english, when he can't even speak or write english properly himself?

Oh no, not again...

everyone can use the language of his or her choice. the best idea is to use the language you know best and which the people you talk to understand. e.g. in a group of german speaking people, it will be a good idea to use german, in a mixed group, english will be a good choice. if your groups is entirely made up of swedish players, i'd suggest to use swedish. i guess you got the idea.

however, you, the original poster, are not really able to express yourself in english as well. see it as a chance to *learn* english (i believe that your mother tongue is german). to forbid something is probably the wrong way.

@ Brendan Mason:
As soon as you are German and say something against other countries you are a racist? Typical American. All Germans hate people of other countries, this is what all Americans think. But Americans are the biggest racists, they all hate Blacks / Whites.

turnupto, you know what my opinion about you is and you confirm my opinion again and again.
take this as a warning: i won't tolerate racistic, nationalistic or any other radical political statement here. your statement clearly IS nationalistic.

take good care. and don't think that you can say whatever you want to. your country has clear laws concerning that.

sorry for the german in this thread, but its to difficult for me to write this in english. perhaps can someone translate this

@Turnupto

It gives not the same truth for all, only the truth which we believe it is right.
And your opinion consists of things you heared from a few person i think.
Do you mean that is generally validly?
