(i casted over the river "just got new spell")

This dwarf came up to me and said "did you just cast"

I replyed with "yes"

He walked up to me and hit me 2 times taking most of my hp.

so i ran and said "OI"

he carried on chasing me so i called for help.

no one came so i ran up to the cross then went across the bridge.

he dissapeard for a bit I thought i was safe (even tho there was a zombie thing attacking me.)

after killing the zombie thing

he came into view and started casting a red flame at me so i started casting the only spell i knew i had (ra pen)

which seemed to have no effectand he kept casting

I asked him y he attacked me

he said you casted in town

he carried on casting at me

so i loged off.

The dwarf (24797) was not a noob...
I am a noob

if he was smart he would have told me to not cast in town and I would do so

but he probably just wanted to pk.

Well...He is not a PK, but he is a bit strictly. Casting in town is not a reason to get killed, but don't do it again. But the dwarf was a bit stupid, too. Why didn't he tell you that casting in town is forbidden?

I agree with Turnupto. You should deal with this ingame, but don't log out when someone attacks you.

So what your saying..

That you can butcher anyone whom casts even one spell in town? Get real people! I understand someone who abuses by casting on people or constantly pester, but I think you all are looking for a excuse just to butcher anyone anywhere. Does anyone know the rules of the game anymore? Heck, I got killed for not even casting magic in town by id# 13895 just for trying to explain that it was not in town. You people.. sheesh..

There are a lot of people who enjoy killing, but most don't unless they have a valid reason. If they can justify it in any way, they won't think twice about it, so just don't do anything that could invite such action...

i.e. use your head...

Here's a small snippet that you might find interesting..

7. Player killing

The killing of characters without a valid role play reason is forbidden. As is also Resurection killing (killing multiple time within a very short period of time.). Most people actively hunt player killers (PK), and attack them on sight. Newbies, who are unfamiliar with how the game works, should be treated friendly as long as they are not aggressive.

So, hehe, this is from the official website. And seeing that this person is a newbie, well, I think that gm should take action against this dwarf.

As I've stated in other posts before.

As long as someone has a valid RP reason to kill someone, then I will do nothing about it. The game does allow player killing for valid RP reasons.

There is a fine line as to what is a valid RP reason, and what is invalid. Unless it is blantantly invalid I am hesitant to do anything about it, as I'm sure the other GMs are.

I am finished with the DB implementation of the player files, which needs to be tested thoroughly before being implemented, but once tested and implemented will allow us to implement the application system. Which should get rid of a lot of problems.

Asroth:

I know it seems pkish to kill someone for casting in town and not telling them to stop, but he did technically keep it in character. I do not condone to "blatant killing" as Serpardum put it, but in this case I would let it slide. He clearly did wish to bend the rules slightly, but it still stays within the bounds of Illarion's Rules. All I really can suggest you to do is to suck it up, fight alot of monsters (dont powergame), and if he comes at you again, fight back. Of course, now you definitely know about the towncasting rule and I am sure this occurrence will not happen again, what with your awareness and all :) Oh..and one more thing...despite his constant attacking against you, try not to log off. Its pretty OOC-like. Of course now, if you get killed by him and you didnt do ANYTHING, then complain, because THAT would be blatant killing.

Sincerely yours,

Think about casting offensive spells in town as shooting a gun in a city in RL.
Maybe this is usual in USA, but in Germany you can't take your gun and shoot with it in the middle of a city. You will get arrested. In game it is not possible to arrest someone, so some people might kill you instead to fend of a threat.

Just to make this clear: Casting spells in the town is not forbidden by the game rules, so you are not punished with deletion or ban. There are just many players who enforce this rule by their own.

@Serpardum:
Do you realize you used the word implement four times in your sentence? ;)

Just to make it more clear, the no casting in town rule is a town rule that is roleplayed and created by the characters in game. But the rule is NOT simply "No casting in town". That is just a basic simpflied version of the rule as there are exceptions to when you can cast spells in town, but since the rule does not seem to be written in ink somewhere, there is a lot of variation on the rule today and the exact details remain to be decided upon.
