I just started a new character and I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on what I should do to become a good archer. Like how do I get a bow and stuff like that.

To become a good archer, you must, of course, train in the skill of archery(distance weapons). As for gaining a bow, you can buy one from someone, or carpenter one yourself. I would probably prefer making it myself, as you also have to stock up on arrows, and it's much cheaper to manufacture them by yourself than spending much money on purchasing them from merhcants, although that's only my opinion. You can buy them, if you want. Don't know if there's anything more I could say to answer your question.

be careful though... when mysterious death comes rampant, poeople usually (and duly) look to archers for a very good explenation...

Good advice, but must a Ranger always specialize in archery? Just like Aragorn in Lord of the Rings, a Ranger can specialize in other skills too.

Yes, but I consider a Ranger a person who attacks from a range/distance. Of course if someone accuses you of pking and attacks you then being a decent warrior or mage helps.

What does the "range" part of ranger stand for?
Also rangers are usually skill trackers as well.

Just because my name starts with Caranthir, it doesn't neccecarly mean that I would be someway involved with cars.

I would say the "range" part has to do with traveling wide ranged areas. However, English is not my native language, so I might be wrong.

hm

range means something like hunting grounds I believe, or some sort of geographical area.. like the shooting range etc etc

The term ranger reffers to a person who lives out in the wild, aka the range. They aren't necesarily archers, but quite adept in the use of weapons. Further more they are generally associated with the forces of good. In game terms, they will have limited acces to Druid magic when the vocations are implemented.

What if a Ranger is a mage as opposed to a druid (like me)?
Will I still receive unlimited druid powers, or whatnot?

You will have limited druid magic, and no acces to mage spells.
read the Vocations part of the website for more information.
