This suggestion regards -

Pins, Pins and Cotters, Arrows and Throwing stars

Some items are always needed in bulk.

For example if you want to build something you're goign to need a lot of pins and cotters - and its irritating having to click 200 times to make 1.5k of them

Similarly, nobody ever buys '5' throwing stars - but they're more likely to buy 250 or so - which translates to a lot of clicking.

So the idea is simple. Put an option next to the items above, which instead of creating 5 or so, creates 50 at a time.

Obviously it'll work in steps, and when its finally finished, it produces 50 instances of the item.

And that way everyone is happy.

Discuss.

I don't have a Craftmans-Char at all but knowing that it is a very time-consuming and probably boring thing to craft bigger amounts of things for a special order, for example, i always had such an idea in my mind as well. It would be a very helpful addition to have such an option crafting a "package" of things, especially for pins, arrows and probably even bottles.

So, yes, i like the idea.

Maybe the script could read the current counter number (1 to 250) and try to do that amount of the said item? *shrug*

Yeah...

Our wrists will be thankful.

I think it wouldn't be so boring or irritating if there was less interruptions for "mistakes" where a lot of the clicking seems to occur, guessing approximately half or less if more experienced. If a char could actually make something without these "mistakes", there might be actual time to type something when RPing for those slow typers. Setting something 5-50 (and I haven't tried cotters and pins) doesn't seem like it would help as much as reducing the clicking from the interruptions to work.

But, if your work fails, won't you lose more of your supplies than normal? I know I don't like it when my carpenter is making pins & cotters and she loses a branch or two. Imagine if she were doing a set of 250...

I like the idea, but there should definitely be something in place to prevent massive loss of material. Like adding only 5 or 10 of each supply at a time. It makes more steps, but less chance of losing all your supplies. Plus it makes sense that doing a bulk order would take longer.

For which items should this "bulk production" be applied and how many (each) shall be produced?

Example:

Arrows (10)
Bottles (5)

The way I see it happening is this

Lets say pins - you get 5 pins from each ingot (currently)

So bulk pins

Would start as pins(0%), an ingot is used pins(10%), another ingot pins(20%) and so on. If you fail, you only use an ingot. It'll be the same as it is currently (even time-wise), except that you won't need to suffer from carpal tunnel

Isnt it possible to make the script read the counter, like I said earlier?

I sincerly doubt that is possible. It'd need a bit of change to the way the script is read.

Also I don't like the whole "use the counter for stuff which aint dragging items" - it looks sloppy

Items that should be able to be made in bulk

Arrows
Bolts
Pins
Pins and cotters

everythign else makes sense that you have to do one at a time, even if i do feel like pulling my hair out of my scalp 100 bottles later.

Also to be commented on.

The 'auto fail' on carpentry seems to be about 35%, maybe lower it back down to what it is for smithing? having to start a project, then immediatly re-click to start the same project a second later is beyond annoying.

Smelting, novel idea but how about increasing the auto fail to about 20 instead of 13, it just adds extra clickign that really isn't needed and doesn't add anything to the game aside from player frustration.

Hmm... Is it only me who think this will lead to more chars producing their own good instead of order them just because they can simply click how many they want and then the char will make them while the PO watch television or something?

As it is now the clicking makes the producing of those goods something that crafters do since other chars/POs don't have the patience for this. Or am I wrong?

What you are forgetting.. is that they still require large amounts of materials. And while I do absolutely -love- to craft, when I get asked to make, say, 1000 arrows... I already know that I will probably lose atleast two slicers, fail around 100 times (due to poor quality tools), and then spend a -large- amount of time crafting.

Personally, I think that it should be arranged of fifty each. And the only things should be arrows (non-poisoned), throwing stars, bolts, cloth, Pins/Cotters, Pins. The first four glass options should be able to be made in twenties.

All of these: Upon reaching failure, or tool degrading, full stop.
To prevent PG'ing, mass production drops amount of xp by half, but you drop your chances of inturrupt by half as well.

Effects on magic gems: Amesthyt gems will become less needed, but oh well.

In the rules it specifically states that "doing the laundry" while ingame is forbidden. However there is no mention, nor has there ever been, of televisions. :p

Can we stop spamming the thread and go back to the topic at hand?

To answer the main underlying problem.

50 nails (sorry I'm always usign nails) take 10 ingots to make, and 10 steps.

This will in NO WAY make the game FULLY AUTOMATIC. For a start you need to be able to carry everything, and failures ect will stop the production - as is usual.

What this suggestion is MEANT to stop is -

Shift click hammer , click nail, click nail. *thump thump thump noise*
Shift click hammer, click nail, click nail. *thump thump thump noise*
ect...

Instead you just click thrice, and it produces 50 of them (in a path)

This won't mean you just leave it and go watch tv or smoke or whatever, many items need more than 10 steps - even a pair of metal gloves needs more than that. So this will change basically nothing.

Any other questions?

Bread and rolls.

Would be nice to make it automatic the way dough making is. Keep going until the dough is gone, an error message is posted or the character interrupts the work.
