Broken ((closed rp))

Silence...empty, safe silence

On the cold, stone floor lays the elfess, her bruised body curled into a protective ball. He had covered her bare skin in his massive cloak before he left, an unnerving gesture of kindess after the hell he had put her through. Her ragged breathing pierces the silence, cutting through the air like a knife. The fiery glint in her eyes has dimmed, leaving only a dull shell of who she was mere hours ago. No one else...no one else could have broken her as completely as he. The beatings were painful, her body could attest to that, but what he took from her meant more to her than she even admitted to herself. Her will...her passion...her anger...gone. An empty soul left behind, torn, perhaps beyond repair.

The elfess finally lifts her head, after hours of silent despair on the cold floor. A trembling hand, the fingernails torn and bloody from her struggles, raises to listlessly push her deep auburn hair back from her face. Dull, pale blue eyes shift around the room as she presses from the floor, holding the cloak to her body and sitting up painfully. A small sigh of relief passes her lips, it is evident he has truly gone, at least for the moment. She stands on trembling legs and pulls the cloak more firmly around her body, her eyes traveling over the bits and pieces of tattered clothes on the floor emotionlessly. Random images flash before her empty eyes...his lips curled into a snarl...the rage glinting in his dark green eyes...his hands digging into her skin...

The elfess raises a hand to her shoulder, tracing her bloody fingertips over two perfectly round scars...scars she recieved willingly. A fleeting glimmer of regret shadows her features, a rare show of any emotion other than anger or passion...for him. Her expression hardens with resolution as her gaze shifts across one of her discarded sheaths, the dagger still firmly encased in the leather. A few short, wobbling steps and she was there, dropping to her knees and reaching out with both hands to pull the leather sheath to her chest. Her head lowers and she takes a deep, shuddering breath...gripping the hilt of the dagger and pulling it free. The sheath falls from her hand slowly and the elfess lifts her head once more to gaze lifelessly around the room. She cannot live like this...her soul ripped in two... The heart beating slowly in her chest had been so well protected, so well guarded...until today. A last flood of emotion grips her...anger, guilt, sorrow, longing...and a single tear rolls down her cheek. The dagger shakes noticeably, its tip now pointed above that previously well guarded heart...the knuckles of her hand white from the tight grip of her hand on the hilt. One word...a whisper so soft it may as well have been only a thought, escapes her cracked lips, "Why?"

As he had left the cave, his upper body glistening with sweat, all the large elf could hear was a strange ringing in his ears. It was strange, almost like her screams refused to go away. He shook himself slightly, attempting to get rid of it. He'd had no choice. She had betrayed him, and she had been planning it from the start.

YET THAT WASNT WHY HE'D DONE IT. His mouth twisted into a snarl as he grabbed his face, his shoulders heaving for a few moments, before he controlled himself, and the moment passed. I am not my brother. I am in control of my emotions. I am not weak, as that bitch will have learnt. He moistened his lower lip, and stared upwards at the night sky, taking a few breaths to calm himself.

But something was pulling him back.

He turned, growling slightly, his face a mess of wiry black hair as he strode towards the cave entrance. His footsteps echoed around the place as he drew nearer the clearing, the entrance of which being where he stopped, and stared. She was holding a knife, just above her chest.

He wasnt sure why he charged forwards. It wasnt something he could control. Indeed, he was screaming at his limbs to obey him, but it was as if he had been betrayed by his own body. He dropped to his knees beside her, his expression torn between deepset-anger and nightmarish guilt, as he stretched out his large left hand, attempting to wrap it round the blade itself of the knife.

'Dont.'

Her eyes lock onto his hand as it wraps around the blade of her dagger. She didn't hear him come back, too absorbed in her own thoughts and in the quiet simplicity of the dagger at her chest. An easy solution to a problem she can't conquer. Her pale hand releases its grip on the dagger slowly, and falls to her lap.

Her hair shines with golden highlights, the deep reddish brown color burning brightly in the flickering of the flames of the fire. It seems the only part of her still living, as the rest of her body is coldly silent. No more screams or pleas...no more tears...not even any more angry words...just nothing. She can't understand why he would rob her of even this last choice...when his domination has already been so complete. He accomplished what he set out to do and now she only wants to end it all.

Her dry, split lips open to speak softly, holding not even a touch of emotion, "Let me finish it. Please." The last word, spoken so freely...it registered briefly in her mind that it was a word rarely heard from her lips. The thought is quickly shaken off, irrelevant anymore.

Her words created a bubble of panic which began to churn around in the pit of his stomach, his body frozen in position, blood dripping from his hand where the steel had cut his skin. What scared him the most was.. he didnt understand why he was panicking. What is this?

Slowly, painstakingly he released the knife, letting it fall with a clatter onto the stone floor, his dark green eyes fixed on her. Then, unable to stop himself, he stretched out and pulled her towards him, holding her in his arms, his mouth lowered by her ear. The words werent his. They couldnt be. But he spoke them anyway, and as he did so, to his complete horror a tear fell from his left eye, his teeth gritted.

'I need you.'

The elfess' dull blue eyes watched the tear fall to splatter on her pale thigh and her finger slid over to touch it gently, almost curiously. The moment passes and her hand drops away, uncaring. To hear those words come from the lips of the elf should be surprising to most, especially the elfess...but they fall on what mights as well be deaf ears.

She lays like a dejected doll in his arms, barely even daring to breath. The elf holding her in his arms means nothing at the moment...her emotions are gone. No fear, no regret...for a fleeting moment she longs to be able to feel rage again, her comforting, safe anger...her hiding place. But he took that too...there's no place for her to hide. Her lips move once, but nothing is audible...then again, a raspy, dead voice coming from her throat, "Lesson learned. The strong...control the weak."

He pressed her limp form against his chest, heavy breathing punctuating his silence as he held her almost gently, his chin resting on her shoulder. His eyes narrowed in the direction of the stone wall ahead of him, and he blinked quickly so as to get rid of the feeling of moisture the tear had left. He slowly stood up with a small grunt, still carrying the broken body in his powerful embrace. He suddenly swore loudly, before a slight shudder passed through his large body and he turned, walking unsteadily with her lain over his arms.

He carried her out of the cave, and through some undergrowth, coming to a stop by a river. Wolf fell to his knees with a thump, and slowly placed her on the river bank. Then he straightened up, letting his dark green eyes roam over her battered form.

'Wash yourself..' He said in a cracked voice, his shadow smothering her.

The soft grass felt alien to her skin after the roughness of the stone floor. She sits motionless for a moment before sliding down into the water and sitting with her back to him. She listlessly scoops water into her hands, pouring it down her shoulders and arms, washing away the dirt. The river, the fresh air, the trees...all have a sort of surreal feeling, as if she's never seen or felt any of it before.

Her hair floats in a cloud behind her as she leans back to wash the silky locks, her motions mechanical. As she sits back up, a sudden thought hits her...If I can only scrub it all away...and she seems to come to life, scrubbing furiously at her skin, her breathing quickening hysterically. Her pale skin reddens at the onslaught, her eyes glinting with a mad desperation.
