Well thats new.

What exactly did you download?

This *.jnpl file? Do you have a current Java RE version on your computer?

I guess I found the problem. Can't say why this happend now, but I hope I fixed it.

You have to start the client now at least once from the browser. Maybe additional its needed to clear the browsers cache to get it working.

I select 'play' from the site and it starts to download but then stops midway. Says "Download stalled"

I updated my Java to current version, but same problem.

What can I do?

You just have to wait it out. I found canceling and restarting the download tends too push it further along. However if you just wait it will eventually finish.

just wait. It goes on after a while. There is nothing you could do to speed this up.

Has the client been updated? My machine wants to redownload everything

There has been a major problem with the Java Webstart definition file (*.jnpl). I fixed that problem but now the Java thinks the whole client was updated.

There was no update but sadly its unavoidable that everyone has to download the client completly once again.

That did it! It took about 20 minutes here, but glad to be on again! Thanks!

I'm on a new computer for a few days and tried to download the game.

Current Java, and browser cache cleaned.

"Failure to Launch Application"
Details:
BadFieldException[ Cache must be enabled for nativelib or installer-desc support,http://illarion.org/illarion/download/lwjgl_win.jar

Ok...so how do I enable the cache I need for this?

Try harassing your Java settings in the Control Panel, (i.e. Temporary Internet Files in the "Settings" area). I'm not 100% sure that will fix your little ordeal, but it might help. I know a friend who found out he had to mess with his cookie settings to get his por...his uhh, internet game to...function.

This may seem like an odd question - but do you have to start up from the browser all the time now or do we still have that version of the client you can have on your computer and play w/o going to the illa website every time?

There is a way to create local shortcuts.

And it works this way:

Windows:
Start --> Run

Linux & MacOS
Console

Type in there:

Code: Select all

javaws -viewer
This way you get a window open. Where you can select the Illarion Client and click then on "Create Shortcuts"

Also there is the way to download the jnpl file from the homepage, place it on the desktop and start it with this.

I assume you are using Windows, if this is the case then it works as following:

Start -> Run
Type "javaws -viewer"
A new window will pop up, showing all installed java application.
Amog them the Illarion Client should be listened.
Select the client and you should be able to create a short cut to your desktop.

Edit:
A tad to slow.

I'm actually the local Mac girl but thanks. ^_^
I was just curious 'cause I thought there was a time when you could download the client right from the website as a .jnlp file and it would just show up where ever you selected it to be downloaded to.
Is that a change with the illa client, or a byproduct of a java upgrade? Just curious. ^_^
