How to get leather?

Do both cows and pigs drop leather? I've slain several pigs but none of them drop leather. Is there a place to buy it?

there's currently some 'quest' going on that makes leather near impossible to get.
I dunno what it's about exactly or how long it'll take though.

quest was supposed to be done (apparently) a month ago. the gm in charge just hasn't had the "cure" take effect yet. can the gm in charge of this quest please let us know?
