food...a continuation
we had a interestign discussion going on about how to make food useful and keep peopel from eating nothign but food potiosn and rabbit dishes
i had an idea and woudl like CONSTRUCTIVE input
make food give a small stat boost for the rest of the day based upon what food it is
food like sausage dish and meat dish might giev +1 and +2 con for the rich protein helping the body restore used energy
the salmon and fish fillet might give +1 and +2 intel respectively,. since fish is brain food after all
sweets like apple pie, cherry cake and strawberry cake +1, 2, and 3 respectively to agility.. the sugar rush helps to keep moving even when bogged down.
okay.. thats about it

Erm... We ready have a diet system. Take a look here

Furthermore i thought, that the price of the food potions should be high enough now. Good dishes are have more advantages and are cheaper. It is not?
But i like the idea of different advantages. Not only Constitution. Intelligence in use of good brain food (fish) and agility in use of light food (soup instead of the most fat steak).. why not..

An opinion that may not be popular, but there are lots of suggestions on food, mainly due to the revamp and it now being a paying profession. Any improvement IMO is good, however I also think to add more vaiety to the game, some other systems need help worse now. In other words, I feel that the food system as it is now is wonderful compared to what it was and what some other professions are still...and wouldn't want to change it.
To include this into the diet system is not very good.
Since you have to eat nothing but some cakes to get a increase of agility(?! Don't you grow heavier from this so agi -1 ? )
In case you want a instant effect of the food. So you eat a cake and bam you have +2 agi for like 2 hours, I can give you a nice simple answer: NO
Foods are not potions. Thats the work of potions.
And currently I really think it would be nice to have some more items you can use and the stuff needs to be rebalanced a little (what is in work). But after all no changes are needed currently. The system runs well.

I think more should be done to encourage people to eat different foods. Currently, the only food you need is the rabbit dish, and a system like this (or something similar) would help sort out the wasted graphics which seems to be going on.Nitram wrote:To include this into the diet system is not very good.

Well yeah not everyone, that came out wrong, but rabbit dish is by far the most common food getting cooked, theres no real need for the other dishes.Ambrosine wrote:Sundo Raca wrote: I think more should be done to encourage people to eat different foods. Other races eat foods besides the rabbit dish... Personally none of my chars have eaten rabbit since forever, there're just better foods out there, but I guess you could suggest just which graphics are being wasted at the current moment...
By that logic - what if healing potions were the most common being bought, would that mean that there's no real need for the others? Mages would surely disagree, and those antidotes are awfully useful in a pinch...
What about weapons? Do we need to cut back on those as well? And armour? Personally only one of my chars uses any sort of armour and he uses leather for the most part, and there are plenty of non-fighter chars who go without armour altogether. Should we cut back on armour then as well?

Weapons and Armor have STATS.
These determine how much they can defend you, how heavy they are, how much you can dodge.
How much damage you can do, how much speed...
So weapons are different because they NEED to be. So a fast character with low strenght can find a weapon which he can use, as much as a slow character with heavy strenght.
--
Food is just "Amount fed" and whether its good for you or not.
So you DONT need 6X10^23 foods, because in the end, all it'll be is "I eat 2 rabbit dishes instead of 1 cake"

I agree. The dishes are quite unbalanced.pharse wrote:The current flood of rabbit dishes on the food market is not the fault of the diet system, it is because of the unbalanced dishes. So better rework the cooking system. The diet system is fine as it is.
Right now rabbit dishes are the easiest to make, use the fewest ingredients and are the most filling.
The higher end dishes that are more difficult to make and actually contain more food should be more desirable. Instead, those are difficult to sell and occasionally I even get complaints from people that I give them to for free.

You must have never tried cooking IRL if you think that rabbit is easy to cook.Julius wrote:Rabbit is easier to cook in rl and fills you up more.
A fish meal is harder to .. get fully cooked and is less filling on the stomach.
To tell you the truth, I see no problem at all with this. I would like to see Fish giving more of a boost to Constitution then Rabbit Dishes though.

So, I was having a thought on balancing the dishes.
I think making rabbit dishes and sausages count as peasant food or 'free' foods like fruit and raw fish would set them in their correct place. I think also that rabbit should not fill the food bar completely. I'd say maybe halfway, requiring a second helping would be better.
