An Arena or Coleseum

One day I was walking out of town and I saw two friends who were about to duel. After the weaker one lost he lost some skill which made him even weaker. It then occured to me that wouldnt it be great if we had an Arena were anyone can go and fight without the worry of losing skill(now we couldnt allow anyone to gain skill in it either but)? If we had such a thing dissputes could be settled without tempers being flared even higher. And not only could we have that but we could have monsters in it as well, so you could see how well you would fare against something. It also could be a safe haven for people who just want refuge from the evil. If say somone was player killing without any reason everyone could just go hide in the arena and nobody would have anything to worry about. Well just tell me what you think of this idea because i thought it would be nice to be able to fight a friend without worrying if hes going to kill me.
PS: mages would need this more because if they duel and they loose language skill they cant cast as certain things.

i hadnt thought of that..... well there is a space just past the pig fields, its only forrest but theres plenty of forrest even if we did build over there. I just posted cause i never heard anyone else say anything about a place were two people could duel and not lose skill.

it could be a good idea to have a coluseum for games.
but to lose skills if u die is good. perhaps it could be built a coluseum and only if u have told the gms that u make a show u don't lose skills.
and don't forget, that it could be powergaming what u saw.

First of all, Why would it be powergaming to duel a friend? I thought powergaming is training fighting skills with another player (ps i consider this to be the smallest form of powergaming)another form would be you and a friend both leaving there computer's on while they attack eachother without hurting eachother or just one person attacking. PS:I did not ACTUALLY see this happen, i just know that alot of people have duels. Also the reason not to lose skills when you die is not for anybody except mages, if you are a mage and you wantr to have a wizzard's duel with a friend and he kicks your butt, your language skill goes down, somthing that never can be replaced. A druid doesnt need language so if he dies it doesnt really fase him much except for the fact that he lost some skill which he could eventually replenish. But mages lose there magic skill after a while would no longer be able to cast ANYTHING except maby a very weak heal and possibly a fireball.

i think that not only mages would benifit from not loosing skill.how many players jsut cast, or jsut fish, or jsut farm? most do multiple things, like combat, druiding, and smithing. if you die, you might not be able to smith things you could befor you died, so you ahve to waste another hour or so to be able to smith everything again. only in the colloseim will you not loss skillfor dieing,. but if you cant loss skill, you cant gain it either in the colloseum.
another thing, you shoukd have to pay admition to watch a fight, or somthing like that. and if you want to fight, you need to register. if you are teh winner of the turmient, you get like, 5 ingot. second place, 3 ingot. third place, 1ingot. if you dont get one of those 3 spots, you get nothing.
people can duel and not powergame.
maybe we should not be able to atack eachouther at all, want to or not, unless we are in like, a training camp or the colloseum. something like that.
my ideas.

ur problem is realy weak, i have a realy big problem, that sounds: other players.
i reached a point, i have to say, if i kill anyone only one time, it was playerkilling and not the character. the problem is:
u say anyone that he should go, he don't do so. u atack him, he doesn't go.
u see the blood, he doesn't go, but u don't want kill anyone.
thats worse roleplay, thats my problem.
for the gms in german:
ich fühle mich manchmal derart provoziert von spielern, dass ich den character am liebsten töten würde, aber dann wäre es bereits playerkilling, bei dem ich aber sagen muss, nicht derjenige der getötet hat, sondern der, der beinahe getötet wurde sollte für schlechtes rollenspiel bestraft werden.
if u have a place, where u don't lose skills, if u die, what do u believe how many players go there and use it, kill each other, without roleplay?
anyone of u ever died? i prefer, that the character is dead, if he dies, but the players are not able to handle with losing there characters.

I would tend to agree.
I think an arena might be nice, but I think that if you die in the arena you should suffer the same penalties as any other death. That would make any such duels that much more meaningful.

i supose thqt your are right, but do you think that you should be able to purchase a private arena for guilds and such? plus the open one that u need to pay admition for?

Some months ago an open air theatre was built for a concert.
It looked really good.
Perhaps we can let build an theatre like that again. Someone would have to ask a Gamemaster. It will only cost much of cash, which anyone would have to collect.
