Hail, and a slight problem being had.

Hi I'm new to the game.
Though as of yet I have been unable to play.
At first I tried downloading it via the online version, it downloaded, but when it got to the java download bit, it only got halfway before stalling. This it did constantly.
So I ended up downloading the off line version. This went successfully until I tried starting it up. At this point it went back to the same java window and the same problem persisted.
Any help would be greatly loved.

This is really a question for the technical section, but yes ive experienced the same thing and i believe its probably because your current version of windows in incompatible. Or maybe just slow, not really sure.
Can you post your system details?

It is a common problem that the download stalls from time to time. There is only one way: Wait. Be patient and use the time to browse e.g. the
Illapedia.

Thankyou for all your help and suggestions. As suggested I left it running, though I did it while I was sleeping, and it seemed to eventually get there.

It appears and I stand to be corrected that the client is not picking up the latest version of Java as compatible?
First attempt
Downloaded off line installer and proceeded to install, unable to find java 1.5 the installer downloaded the required java platform/package. How ever I got a message about java being unable to perform operation and restart. The client would not run....
Second try I uninstalled java entirely from my pc but made the mistake of downloading the newest version of Java from .sun.com. After reinstalling the newest java the installer would still attempt to download the java 1.5 install. The client would then kick me out.
Third time I cleaned Java from my pc and downloaded the Java installer from the illarion game page. This worked perfectly....
Moral of the story the installer/client does not seem to like the newer java versions.
Dont know if this will be of any help to others or devs but such was my experience.

The online installer works with any version of java after 1.5
The offline installer only works with version 1.5
