Dear Illarionites,
while the server is down, you already did your homework or fed your dog, there is something positive you can do. As some might know, the Illapedia offers the option for everybody to place a description of his/her character(s), just like a character database. In order to add your character, do the following:

1. Go to: http://illarion.org/community/wiki/inde ... r_template
2. Hit "view source" and copy the code into a text editor – don’t be scared, it is very simple code
3. Add the informations of your character, e.g. copy your character profile
4. Set the right race accordingly so the character is sorted into the right category
5. Create a new article by entering this URL to your browser: http://illarion.org/community/wiki/inde ... ction=edit – replace “Yourchar” with the name of your character
6. Paste the code your just wrote and voilá! You’re done.
7. Check your entry here: http://illarion.org/community/wiki/inde ... f_Illarion - the characters are sorted by race

GM Estralis ist gerade zu faul zum Übersetzen.

Bitte darauf achten, dass deutsche Artikel stets den Zusatz "/de" tragen müssen. Ein Beispiel: Dein Charakter heißt Oliver, also wäre der deutsche Artikel unter "Oliver/de" zu finden und der englische unter "Oliver".

Eine Beteiligung bei anderen Artikeln wäre mir lieber, zumal man Charaktere ja lieber IG kennenlernen sollte.

I really dont understand i have pressed edit but where am i supposed to put the code? im not very good with computers Please explain it a bit to me if you can?

Any text editor will do. You can also first create a new article (step 5) and paste the code there directly. Just don't edit the template .

think ive done it now, didnt add much info though cos i didnt think it would work can i now edit the page to how i want it and maybe add a picture?

ich bin ja nicht ganz blöd, aber irgendwo fehlt da etwas in der Anleitung ... ich kann mich auf den Kopf stellen und mit den Beinen Vögel fangen aber ich bekomm das Zeug nicht unter meinem Charnamen gespeichert, Änderungen funktionieren dann auch nicht mehr ... aber vllt. bin ich doch blöder als ich bisher angenommen habe

CHARACTERNAME ersetzt du dabei durch den Namen deines Charakters. Leerzeichen werden durch _ ausgedrückt.

Im Obersten Teil der Seite hast du dann 4 Tabs. Davon sind 2 interessant. Und zwar "page" unter dem du deine Seite siehst und "edit" unter dem du deine Seite bearbeiten kannst.

Klappt es so?

mir ist klar, daß ihr die absoluten Cracks und Obergötter seid
ich bin tumper User, daß da so Zeugs hinter dem Charnamen steht, was da ggf. nicht stehen sollte, kann ich nicht wissen ... da mangelt es meiner Meinung nach an ausführlicher Beschreibung
nichts für ungut, aber .... "mangelhaft ... setzen!"

Dieses Tolle "&action=edit" bewirkt nur das der edit/bearbeiten Tab aktiviert ist wenn die Seite geladen wird. Wenn du das weg lässt wird der Seite/Page Tab geöffnet und du musst umschalten bevor du etwas bearbeiten kannst.

Wie kann ich eigentlich dafür sorgen, dass das Bild dann auch sichtbar ist und da nicht irgendein Link steht?

Ich kann dir erstmal nur meine Version geben:
Das muss dann da hin, wo in der Vorlage "Your pic here" steht, siehe 'view source'.

Du musst natürlich das Bild noch hochladen, via 'Upload File' im unteren Kasten auf der linken Seite.

Und dann einbinden mit [[image:image.jpg]]. Der Zusatz thumb macht das Bild kleiner, falls es zu groß ist und center, naja, zentriert halt. Man kann auch Bildunterschriften verwenden: [[image:image.jpg|thumb|Das bin ich!]].

Upload in the bottom left of the index menu and then go [[image:nametheimagewasgiven.jpg]].

Do we have a German page for each race, because I see a lot of "Name/de" following the English verson. Since it is a category I am not sure if there is any way to clean it up and to connect the German versions to a seperate page?

What do you mean (I don't get it at the moment)? (The Illapedia has some kind of auto-redirection for languages, maybe that's the cause).

PS: As a general advise at all: Use the preview funtion before submit changes; it is better to have one larger change than five versionsn within 5 minutes.

If you see at The People of Illarion...some characters have two pages:

<Charname>
<Charname>/de

English and German. Dantagon asked if there could be one page, and the user chooses whether to see it in english or in german.
