skills - stoppage

well, I'll make this a little brief. See, my skills have gotten to a decent spot, but not really very high. I'm talking about combat skills. I can kill ogres easily, but I've tried training on them for awhile but I can spend hours on them without any boost in skills. as a matter of fact, I've never had them raise while fighting those. I tried demons, but even in plate armor and wielding a fire sword I can kill one. I can hack away for awhile on the big red guy, then run and heal. but I won't kill him, nor will my skills go up at all. why is that? are they down for good? if so, I'm screwed.

Your name is already in use by someone, well partial of it anyways...  you should consider to start a new character unless the origional owner of the name indicates otherwise.   My sincer appologies goes to you if he's already mentioned it somewhere and I didnt notice it.

As for your skills stopping, its also got to do with your starting values.  The Str etc stuff you set when you created your character.  Those effects your skills as far as I know, and also, as your skills gets higher, it gets harder to obtain them (or to get them back in my case... :'( ).  I once had "maxed out" skills for my char stats, but now its impossible to re-obtain as the skills gets harder and harder to obtain.

Hope this helps.

If you died and lost skills it seems to take over twice as long to bring them back. I've had a little exp. in this area.

As for your name this is supposed to be a RPG game based on living your life in Illarion right. Then as in life some people will have the same first name so get off the name thing I'm tired of seeing it in all the posts.

Don't know why he would make his name Darkend also, it's not a real name as far as I know. He and you might mean Darkened, which is like... dark (black shade) but I've never seen two people with the same made up name. He must have stolen it from you, or vice versa.
I know, if someone named Erdrick Lalala came around, I wouldn't be too happy.
It's called originality... take our advice, Dream, and stop flipping out. We're giving friendly advice.

When you are fighting the skills raise but every enemie has a maximum skill which he can "give" you (understand the sentence? sorry for my english). Try to fight the demon or spiders...

You must find more difficult enemies. Start with insects, then move to mummies, after skeletons try the scorpions. The more difficult your enemy is, the higher your skills will rise. You cannot raise your combat skills to the maximum with a mummy, you finally need a demon..

or find a skilled fighter and attack him when he's wearing full plates and two shields (remember to ask permission first) X-)

"but I can spend hours on them without any boost in skills. as a matter of fact, I've never had them raise while fighting those."
Skills are not gained all the time by how much time you spend hacking at monsters.
The more difficult monsters you fight, then you skill rises, and only the monsters you successfully damage or hit gets you more skill.
As skill rises, it will be harder and slower to get it to a very high state, or to master it, and after a period of time, that skill will decrease if not used.
Its very complicated, but there isnt a need to go around hacking daemons anyway. Try some spiders and beholders and see what treasure they guard or hide, but daemons are ment to be though, after all, they dont just take your life, but your soul. Byee, dont let the vampires bite.
