*Amongst the thick fog of early morning, a lizardman draped in black robes lands on the dock of the Troll's Bane harbor. The Schooner sways in reaction to his powerful legs jumping from the edge. Slowly he rises giving a low sinister hiss and repositions his tail back under his robes. The lizard has dusky jade skin teeming with various scars contrasted by his yellow eyes that rarely stop moving always taking in his surroundings. He has a protruding snout that randomly snaps open and closed without warning. Many of his other mannerisms display the same arbitrary nature.
One of his claw-like hands reach into his robe pocket and pulls out a piece of parchment with a name written on it, "Scall". Muttering under his breath, "Perfect name, Ssscallywag. Ssso thiss iss where you are hiding you worthlessss freeloader."
After speaking with Harbor attendants about where to start his search he reaches for his daggers strapped to his rib cage under his open black robes and walks to the shoreline. In seconds he has his morning breakfast. Unloading his trusty bow and countless arrows from his traveling crate he walks to the open building to rest his legs.
"Tomorrow Ssscall, I'll find you"
With much trouble he closes his wandering yellow eyes and falls asleep, a faint hiss coming from his breathing.

Kaila gasps seeing the man who wouldn't say his name wrap the rope around the tree and her multiple times, she moved slightly adjusting her back where the scraped part didn't touch the trunk having injured it when she tried to sit with her hands tied behind her back on his order. At least the rope was on her shoulders and chest and not around her belly. She was very thankful for that, but his threat of killing her unborn child first had stopped any other protest. He had quickly tied her hands earlier after she tried to escape with a spell, and his tone of voice indicated clearly what he thought of mages. She had no illusions this man would do what he said he would, he seemed desperate.
The words he finally did speak were almost to himself..
Fine mess, how did he find me?
And his mention of 500 silver gave her some idea what he wanted. Kaila looked up into his eyes still trying to move her hands to the front so she could do a spell hoping he wouldn't notice nor that he would tie anything around her mouth as threatened while she whispered
Maybe I can help?
His quick "No" being answer enough to dash any hope of him letting her go. Her heavy eyes tried not to close when he told her to sleep, that it would be a long night. Staying awake as long as she could, she finally drifted off to unwanted but needed sleep.

*it had been a week now since Kaila had been kidnapped, just two days ago he found out she was taken from Troll's Bane. The thought was excruciatingly painful engrossing him in guilt. Why had he not been there to protect her? Why was he not there when she most needed him? What kind of guard was he? All this compounded by the fact that he had to raise 5 gold coins for a ransom. The only comfort he had through this whole ordeal was the generosity of all the good willed people of the island and his friends. So many offered to help him get Kaila back even if they didn't have many coins to spare. He would never forget the kindness and charity he saw from the people of Gobaith. Zhambra's teachings and light had provided for him yet again in his time of need, the bonds of friendship gave him strength.
Besides Kaila's abduction, another dilemma was becoming an impending issue, the kidnapper had to be stopped, completely, to insure nothing like this ever happened again. With the information passed to him from Konrad by a lovely elfess, Starling, he knew the kidnapper's name and a potential accomplice. With the volunteers he received to help him it might be possible to capture this criminal without paying the ransom and thwart any attempt by this criminal to strike again.
Since Eli and Kaila were both mages and spiritually connected it was always easy to sense and feel her needs and in extreme cases even feel and see her at long distances. Once she had left to go back home and rest awhile only to have her return to him saying, "Eli I saw you passed out in the snow." In another instance Eli had actually read Kaila's mind, and an unequivocal indication was surfacing in his mind on what he should do.
He knew if he could focus his mind long enough and follow the manastreams stretched across the island he could find out where she was being held. After three hours of Meditation at the cross in the southern forest patiently waiting for any indication.
The ground was soft and comfortable enhancing his concentration nothing could move in the forest without him perceiving its presence. Only the steady expansion and contraction of his chest gave movement. The soft periwinkle blue of his robes now cascade across the ground, a magical elven armor settles unevenly atop his bag, he looks asleep....waiting....searching......

The red hand mark on her cheek that still stung and the warning not to yell was enough to keep Kaila very cautious about any sound. Unable to use her magic and with stomach rumbling she finally whispered with lips dry and cracked...
Do you have any food and water?
Drinking with only a little water spilled and quickly eating a roll of bread held for her, she was only partially satisfied leaning her head back on the hard tree trunk. Kaila's hair with tangles and bits of pine needles dangling from it framed her face as her eyes finally closed but her body instead of relaxing sat up straighter against the trunk while she tried to hide the vision she had just received from showing on her face. Her lips tightened holding back a grin while in her mind a cross appears. Immediately recognizing that robe and hat, she concentrates on him trying to send a mental image of where she was. The pine trees, the mud, the river.... where the mountains were over her shoulder. She also added one thing and hoped Eli received it... a gentle hand lightly touching his cheek in a warm caress. Abruptly biting her lip when a foot kicks her leg, she stops trying to send anything as her eyes open wide and look up to see her kidnapper standing over her with suspicion on his face as his harsh, demanding words burst forth.
What are you doing?
