Illarion Score

I am currently working on the Illarion score.
I am working with a MIDI programm, so dont expect authentic medieval sounds or anything likely.
I was wondering if its okay if, considering this is a fantasy roleplay, y'all would be okay with some more.. modern instruments, like some disortions, or electric sounds here and there. COnsidering that samples never reach the authentic quality of realtime played instruments.
So people what do you think?

Some more music for Illarion would really be great
And it doesn't bother me that there's any modern instruments.

The original Illarion music kicked arse and it was a midi.

As long as it sounds better than you singing, Mister Gay Fiah...
*g*
Just kiddin'.. It sounds like a fantastic idea and modern instruments will add life to the game. Who cares if it's not all lutes and such?

some scores would be kinda.. well comparable to the final fantasy style scores style..

Use whatever you please. As it stands, I certainly never listen to lute and panflute music when I play.

Please anything but the original score from 2003-04. I swear some of those tunes could kill all the dolphins around Anchorage bay.

Quinasa has the original music on her computer. Sometimes she plays it. Fond memories it brings back. Makes me think of things like 'The Seekers Second Coming' guild. ^^
Why not just bring back the awesome originals?

Digitaly remastered and played by an orchestra then.

Just make the background song in Illarion Boston's "More than a Feeling", and have it re-play over and over

but only the old one, which still doesn't loop.
But anyway i think as long as it sounds good and has an "older" touch get it in and let us hear results.

If you intend to always have music running (as in not only during fights) you really need to have a loooot of songs. Else everyone will just turn music off. IMO it has got to be medival style music though...

Are the sounds also for the various instruments?
It would be nice if there was a sound played instead of the message: "Buck Angel blows into a horn and produces a great sound".

I'm definately looking forward to some of this music! I think it's gonna be a great addition to the game.
P.S What application are you using Noradur?

You know what would be nice? A device you could use to compose music by attaching it to your head, then thinking the music. They have that in Shadowrun, and a device similar to something like that may be possible some day...If I was still around, I'd use it. I mean, I can compose all sorts of weird sounding music in my head. My brain is like a radio station!

Short atmospheric sound effects or tunes like in Thariel's linked thread would be nice (or even when playing instruments), but no full MIDI soundtrack. I guess there are more important things to realize and will continue listening to own music.

I have proclaimed Nory to be the god of midis

They are truly cookie-worthy

Music would be nice.
I would suggest that every town/city/region has it's own type of sound.
Greenbriar is bouncy and happy.
Trolls Bane is more steriotypical medieval music.
Varshikar is more somber or darker then Trolls Bane.
Tol Vanima is simple.
Anyways that is what I would do if I were in your position.

Thats what i had in mind.
Greenbriar will get a quite, and kinda happy theme.
Trolls Bane will be more hectic and a little rocky to express that its a hectical town with fast changes and a attractive but nasty place.
Varshikar will get some desert theme, percussions, with a mix of medieval like melodys and strings and guitar/lute
Vanima will be mystical, quite and calm and kinda peaceful

The old dungeon theme was great. I could powergame to that all day. It would be awesome if it was remixed and remastered.
The tavern music was good too. The overworld and shop theme wasn't so good, but hearing it still brings back some old good nostalgic feel. The battle theme wasn't very inspiring though.

yeah, underlined by a rythmic crafting noise, as percussions
