Nvidia 6600 with 256MB DDR2

The problem is that last weekend I (Edmon Entrails) made a trade with (Chester Copperpot) for 20 rabbit dishes in a leather bag. following that I went logging and gained 5 swirles of skill in addition to collecting 42 coniffer logs. As I was walking back to town I was kicked off the server. when logging back on I was at the point before all this took place but chester was not he was still missing the rabbit dishes and so was I. I also lost the logs and the skill gain. Can this be fixed?

That happens on a server crash; the whole thing rolls back.

Sadly, the Gms usually have a 'don't give things back' policy.

However as a tip for the future, after you've done somethign important LOG OUT AND IN AGAIN.

If the server crashes, you'll end up back there.

And that has some good and logical reasons:

- one of us has work for more than a day to recover all goods
- in addition a few days to find out who lost what
- fairness: either everyone or nobody

Edmon is new, but if I can explain, something out of the ordinary did happen that day.

The server did not crash.

There was several Lags that day, and then came an especially long one, perhaps 5-7 minutes easily. I was on the phone with Edmon (RL) when it began the lag and we talked about the possibility that the server just crashed.

He logged out.

Just for grins, I stayed on. I usually let the server kick me off these days, because who knows?

As it turned out, it was just a long lag. I then logged out to save my character. After logging back in, I was where I had left.

However, the server had reset Edmon to the two hours previous.

What's odd, is that I have done the same thing as Edmon did before......Hit escape during a long lag......I'm sure many players have, as I have seen the 'on-line' lists often enough to know.
And My character always returned to the same position and status. The server 'usually' just processes the 'escape' key after the Lag has been resolved.

However, in Edmon's case, the server 'reset' his character. This is odd, and contradicts my own experiences in this same situation. I have never heard of a character 'reseting' unless the server actually 'crashed', which did not happen in this case, as my character 'Chester' was unaffected by all this.

New players shouldn't be penalized for an obvious 'glich' in the system that only affects them and no-one else. This can easily be solved with a little help.

If it happened to me, I'd say WTF, and go on. However, In my opinion, we should be more forgiving toward our newer players.

Any help to retrieve his lost items/skills would be appreciated.
Thanks. :D

fairness: either everyone or nobody

also:
We are offering our own server, a Java client (which can be used at Linux or Windows) and the guarantee that you will never ever pay anything for this game
Between all my chars, I have lost quite a lot with server crashes/also long lags where I logged, including skill gain which IMO is the worst, not trying to sound harsh, but I agree it should be all or none.

In addition to not restoring server items, we also dont delete items you may keep due to a server crash

so thats pretty fair...

I don't want to know how many people will try to (or already do) use this "feature" to stock up their purses, now after you said that openly.

The server does not crash that often to consider that as a problem.

Not true ;)

I asked it once on the newbie's forum, and the items were still deleted.
