wow, such warm reviews make me consider putting out some of my other MS Paint sketches online.
I used to have a laser pen, but it broke last year and now I have to draw with a mouse, which is very inconvenient. With a pen I have a lot more perspective and freedom.
Feel free to browse my site for all the art you can find there. It's the subdirectory of the link I gave.

Ah 'plastic wrap' on photoshop..I love it..
But seriously nice work man, looking good.
He reminds me of a cross between William Wallace and Russle brand, and ofcourse being compared to a 'braveheart'(lol) is never a bad thing.
Yubba, keep up the good work!

Reminds me of Jak from the Jak and Daxter series.
Also.. why does that sword have earrings? or is it just me?

rings on swords are very unhandy if you plan to fight with such a sword ... -,- but hey illa is fantasy don't listen to me, i m ever so realistic

Actually, rings on swords can be quite handy, especially if you execute a stab, driving those rings into the opening wound, and extracting them with force, ripping flesh inside out as it comes with the thrust. In fact, given enough momentum to the strike, you don't even have to have the sword sharp - it would just rip and crush bones and flesh with pure force of the blow itself.
But in my sketch I think I meant to put them on back side of the blade, for decoration. Accidentally I put them on the cutting side.

Two more sketched on the same theme.
"Parrying Arrows" and "Blade Dance"

sorry dude but that is totally wrong... maybe that fits for fantasy, but not for professional or historic sword fight.
a ring in the blade make the blade more brashly, and you have the risk to snag with the sword on something, what is extreme uncomfortable

= waste of energy.
I agree with the german guy above.

well actually, the quote you highlighted is true. Most medieval knights would have battered each other to death rather than cutting or stabbing (more effective due to the armour which had developed)

And from the Home Page, paragraph 1 sentence 1:
"Illarion is a free, graphical fantasy game"

Realistically speaking: You're probably all wrong about the rings in the swords.
A type of Chinese broadsword has nine rings on the blunt side of the blade (Jiu Huan Dao), and it is widely assumed they have served the following purposes:
- - When parrying, they can provide more control over the opponent's blade
- When parrying, they ruin the opponent's weapons (keep in mind the traditional Chinese melee weaponry typically had poor quality, because large quantities had to be produced -- when the Jiu Huan Dao's blunt side clashed with an opponent's blade, the rings helped wreck it more than what would be normal for the broadsword)
- The rings make every movement with the weapon loud, which can be a distraction to the opponent's concentration
Have a nice day.
