AFK policy?

Is it okay in Illarion to go AFK or is it required to logout?
I went for dinner leaving my character standing behind Seahorse Inn building to prevent him from being PKed like new players been randomly doing lately.
A GM notified me that it is considered powergaming and PKed the character. Is it powergaming even when you're just standing still, not exercising any skill? Or is the fact itself that I was behind a building that makes it an offense? I didn't engage anyone in combat and wasn't running from anyone, just picked a safe place for the character to hide while I am not playing the game.
I was unable to find confirmation of the words on the webpage.
Here is what the website says:
10. Powergaming
Carrying out an action that does not fit your character's role repeatedly and for an extended time just to raise skills is called Powergaming, and is forbidden. Examples are to train with other characters without a roleplaying background or always hanging around spawn points. A worse case is when the player is away from his computer ("away from keyboard", AFK), raising his skills while doing something else like doing the laundry.
Here is what the GM said:
Someone (1489326284): hey dude
w:Someone (1489326284): (( Afking in a wall shadow.. ))
w:Someone (1489326284): (( .. is considered Powergaming and against server rules ))
w:Someone (1489326284): (( see ya later - Noradur ))
Konrad Knox: You are hit by a heavy blow upon your hands.
Konrad Knox: Walk to the YELLOW CROSS to get resurrected !
Please clarify someone, I don't want to make another mistake like this one. Is AFK not allowed? Do I have to leave the character in a clear sight visible place if I do go AFK? Or do I have to consider the character asleep, hence valid target for attack?
Thank you.
