Thanks again to all who contributed to the "typical crafts of towns"-topic. The results are satisfying and I think it is a good idea to continue this kind of calls for opinions. The next question is: What kinds of goods does a town usually demand (in terms of import) and what kinds of goods does a town usually offer (in terms of export)?
You might guess that this is a very important question when thinking about placing NPCs on the map. But do not focus on NPCs, focus on the profile of a town. Also, do not focus too much on the craft-stuff of the other topic, e.g. a town could produce certain items AND import them. I have categorized all final products and created serveral categories, with some items belonging to more than one category. In case I forgot a category or you are unsure what a category contains, feel free to add a comment.
I have updated the layout pharse provided for the crafting topic, try to stick to it for it makes evaluation very simple. Label the items a town demands with "I" for import and the items a town offers with "E" for export. Once again I'd like to stress that the most useful input is the one that gives a complete list and not the one that tells that the list of another poster is wrong. So, if you do not agree with a preposter, show what you think is right by filling out the table yourself.

ich konnte in dem bereich in erster linie die frage für silberbrand beantworten. finde es sehr schwer das für andere städte zu machen mit denen ich nicht so vertraut bin.
wenig anfangen konnt ich mit den artefakten, weil ich denke das es drauf ankommt was man drunter versteht (zb. passt ne feueraxt sehr gut nach sb, aber ein stab des feuers weniger). unter drow konnt ich mir nichts vorstellen. sind da drow waffen und rüstungen gemeint? (hatte ich nie in den händen, kann dazu nichts sagen). mit stuff konnt ich auch nichts anfangen
und mit den werkzeugen für die neuen berufe wie den kerzenzieher auch nicht, da ich nicht weiss wie das hergestellt wird.

"Drow" means drow items. "Artifacts" means everything that cannot be produced by mudane crafts, like fire axes. Wands have a category of their own. A candle maker might use tools like a special mould, but time will show what our devs have in mind with them. "Stuff" is everything that does not fit into another category, like ropes, pipes, combs and the like. And "money" is just a category, a town won't import or export money

Also ich sag mal Ivar hat das was Silberbrand angeht genaustens beschrieben , besser gehts nicht .
Was alle anderen Städte angeht kann ich wenig sagen weil es mich IG nicht betrifft und ich Ig auch von einigen nichtmal weiß wo sie liegen , drum bei anderen Städten klare Endhaltung

I would think some of import and a lot of export would depend on what is finally
decided in "typical crafts of towns" but according to your post, I will give my own
ideas without too much emphasis on the previous.
Another thing I would point out that unlike some, I see no reason why an elf
wouldn't fish (is not on description of elves that they hate fish) and it seems to be
they would more likely eat fish then other meats that the animal is butchered
for unless a total vegetarian. Tol, having a lot of water-way around it
IMO would be a good source for fishing enterprises.

((sry, tried this table in different formats and none seemed to save it correctly....thanks oger))
as a side note... on the artifacts and wands, I would envision possibly Greenbriar importing the initial material and the start of making them, then Tol with the finer tuning of elves, finishing the product. As far as exporting, a possible idea is Varshikar only because the desert regions may not be traveled well, and more unusual things could be uncovered there then other places.

Two short notes: With "ammo", I mean items like bolts and arrows, maybe that's not clear for all. The reason why I want to have a look at this independent from the craft-part is that this gives you a degree of freedom. Making the two tables fit will be my job and keep in mind that this is for NPC distibution, NPCs can do deeds of their own. Example: A NPC could sell goods from foreign realms at the harbor, without the harbor being a place where crafts are performed.

i am not sure, what the intention of these lists shall be. do you want to change existing patterns?

The intention is to develop NPCs, basing on existing economic facts of Illarion. This is the goal, the methods I choosed might be uncommon for some of you.
One could also ask "Hey, what goods should NPC xyz buy and sell and for what price?" - the result can be reviewed ingame. Note that there are about 400 final products in Illarion, not counting raw materials and intermediate goods. So, some sorting might be mandatory...
PS: Can you elaborate what you are referring to with "existing patterns"?

for instance: i know, that in greenbriar is a very industrious glasblower, who sells bottles to customers all over the isle.
but greenbriar is noted as importer.
and the exclusion of settlements does distort your vision of the islands trade.
take harvested goods:
greenbriar is not even able, to trade tomatoes for the onions they need. but you put them as exporters.
silberbrand seems to me as the biggest importer of agricultural products (500 or more per week)
farmers union and nordmark together I estimate to export more than 80% of the harvested goods ingame. (ca. 1000 to 2000 a week) they are not even mentioned.
i would like to give it a try, to make some threads for the diffrent crafts, where the player crafters can note their place, production and their exports and destiny of exports.
i think, we all would be astonished by the results.

About minor settlements like the Nordmark or Farmer's Union, it is intended that they do not appear here. Guess what, that will be part #3
. I don't want to spam you with the ideas I have, but I plan three "levels" of traders. Concerning SB being an import town of harvested stuff, hey, that's
exactly why I am asking all this! Keep in mind that I am asking for typical goods that are imported or exported, basing such an observation on an individual character might be dangerous. And - I am currently reviewing the as-is state, influencing this into an intended direction will be a goal of all this.

Interesting concept;
I don`t know, if there is a trader in SB.
But i suppose, if there was one, he might also sell mugs and plates.
Erm and buy maybe...say..ingots? or diffrent chainarmour?
Arr, and he would surely sell coal at a ridiculous price...Hmm.

Thanks to all who partizipated in this. Sadly, I have to announce the approach I wanted to choose for some sort of economy revolution won't work out. Sometimes, it is better to cancel a project before "kaputtreparier" something. I will make up another approach, hopefully your input will be valuable for it, too.
