Lifting the curtain - feedback

Post by Estralis Seborian »

First of all, thanks for all players who participated in yesterdays quest. We are aware that not everything worked out just fine. Also, we have made our "observations", to keep it short. To improve the questing in Illarion, feedback is always welcome. Please write what you think was good and what was bad and how we could have improved the quest. You don't have to write long essays, make it simple by using this layout:

Code: Select all

Good

Bad

Improvement

Looks like this:

Good

Good
 • The plotline was pretty nice.
 • Loved the maps, especially the raft :P .
 • Brelogar was just hilarious, screaming "INFIDEL" at everyone.
 • The monsters ;) . If only I had not run upstairs alone :P .
 • The slight feel of comedy, especially from the !informs, helped to make it generally more fun.
Bad
 • Spending 1-2 hours getting wood, chopping it, going to Varshikar etc. etc. when it could've been a 5 minute thing.
 • Generally the slow rate of how events happened.
 • The alienating "Sit back and watch; don't say a thing" feel of it.
 • The large amount of people participating made it hard to see what was going on.
 • I wasn't too fond of the way that people read the !informs and got on the raft even though it was like halfway there saying #me swims to the raft, during a massive storm.
Improvement
 • Less time walking around and doing nothing. i.e. "I'll go and get my raft" instead of "Let's spend 2 hours building one".
 • A faster pace, or more going on. e.g. on the raft it took quite a while to get there with not much happening. If pirates had attacked, or you'd done a couple thunder spells, the raft got there faster or we hit the shore and got shipwrecked on the isle it would've been nicer.
 • Making it feel more like it's up to us what happens, and not a linear plot. I know this was your aim, Estralis, but it felt like we had to be tagalongs.
 • I think a couple of people took care of the "too many people" problem themselves :P
 • Less !informs when we already have enough people ;)

Well, my only feedback is that these large quests do not encourage rp.
Not that that is the gms fault.

Good
 • Interresting Story, something new
 • Long lasting, Chance for almost everyone to participate
 • The map of the island was very cool
Bad
 • Too many people, sending senceless, confusing emotes and stuff. But that's our, the players' fault
 • It felt like we couldn't change anything of the fixed storyline
Improvement
 • More controll over the people's emotes and stuff
 • Less "being fixed to the storyline"

I noticed the quest was in progress, got ig and saw at the time that a raft was on the high seas. Usually missing out on them due to not being ig then, I would have liked to participate. The only information on the quest was "Greenbriar quest free". I would like it to be a little more specific on the information for those that would like to have gotten involved.

Considering that quests are at least like 75% RP and maybe the other 25% would be fighting, I doubt that your statement could be true. Maybe you could explain it?

Shut up Lrmy. Your 25% rp, 50% powergaming, and 25% fighting.

You've had what? 8-20 characters with 50+ skills?

Good
 • Good storyline
 • Nice new map to explore
 • Interesting quest characters
 • It's not finnished yet
Bad
 • I think perhaps some parts took toooo long, though it did keep me playing.
 • Many people didn't take what they where doing very seriously, therefor tampering with the overall feel of the quest.
Improvement
 • hm...I think the next part could totally justify the quest, other than that dunno really.

I was there until the gm-char group arrived at the temple, then my character took off and went to trollsbane:

Good:

- I lyked the bragon worshipper, and it was interesting how things were unfolding
- Zzyathis ^_^

Bad:

- Too many people
- Too many 'heroes'

Improvement:

- Reduce the amount of people who tag along, I didn't like the whole "Hey a quest, lets walk to Zzyathis and help get a stick from a lizard"

Good
 • awesome map
 • awesome plotline
 • great idea with the raft
 • plane expectations to players
 • archieved aimed result
Bad
 • comedian players
 • players not even interested in the plotline
 • technical issues on my own computer
 • missing strictness with misbahving players
 • chaotic happenings during the quest
Improvement
 • we should aim better for what players we involve and not just let any player participate
 • we should limit the amount characters we involve

I just had to post to agree with that, since it applies to the whole of illarion not just quests.
