Roleplay Rewards

Roleplay Rewards
This suggestion aims at promoting people who roleplay exceptionally, by giving out rewards to the ones who make the most effort.
Firstly, it must be stressed that there can be no mechanical version to determine the quality of roleplay, so this will have to be done manually.
A GM should be given the responsability of looking at whoever is online at moments convienant to him or her. When this GM spots what he determines to be exceptional roleplay from a character or a group of characters, he may assign "Roleplay Tokens".
These tokens should be 'rare'. One occasion per week is the number I am keeping in mind, I do not want to see texts like "Only 2 more tokens then I can _________".
Tokens should be made publically known, in order to help promote good roleplay, and also to keep a tab on how many are being rewarded/for what.
"Character X has been given a Rptoken for exceptional roleplay during the bla bla bla".
These tokens can be 'cashed in' for certain benefits. Obviously these benefits would have different prices...
Example of Benefits are:
I) Allowing a character to get some skill in a language s/he wouldn't normally have
II) Allowing a character to change an amount of his character's attributes
III) An increase of 1 point (extra) in an attribute
IV) More character slots
V) Reducing the price for buildings
VI) Increased skill learning for X minutes
VII) A magical item given to the character (or if the character is a crafter, the gods inspire him to make it

)
VIII) 'Extra' runes
Rp points are tied to accounts, not characters... so good rp with one character doesn't mean you need to use it on that particular character.
Discuss.

sorry, but nonsense
then everyone would rush to rp with those "rewarded" players hoping to also "get into the spotlight" and maybe get a token as well
useless, simply enjoy the game and rp you encounter

Nah, I don't think this should be done, there are not nearly enough gm's, and there will always be some roleplay missed, everyone has their own opinnion on roleplay, ect.
And the rewards seem quite overdriven to me.
I wouldn't do it.

People like rewards dariya
Now, I can either spend 30 minutes whacking at a rock, and watching the swirlies on my mining skill go up... or i can spend 30 minutes of roleplay.
Which one is the most 'rewarding' in game? The first, you get skill, items, and stuff you can sell...
This suggestion is aimed in order to give a 'reward' to the people who DO roleplay.

but Adrian, don't you think that those whacking at a rock for 30 minutes to watch their swirlies don't give a darn about roleplay tokens/rewards?
I do think so, to be honest
but my main objection truly is that probably everyone would rush to rp with those rewarded players and don't like to rp with those who "seem not that good"; but how shall those "not so good" players learn how to rp if nobody does with them?
so still

no

Thats why we should introduce RP rewards, for those who simply PWNT at real roleplay (( *grins* )) , but also to those helping not so good people achieving greater RPing standards, I dont spend 2 hours with a new hafling because I like it, well also, but I was there to help him...
aaaand....
ELDAN WANTS IT THIS WAY!

I didn´t read everything, only GMs awarding RP. Main problem:
GMs are only humans, so even they will stick to "their" players group and will award them preferably. I am so mean to imply that.
Furthermore it is a lot of additional effort for the GMs. I think they have much to do anyway.

I like the general idea about that. But I don't think the names of those who got such tokens should be told to public. If anyone wants us to know that he got one, he can say it himself.
As for the rewards, I don't think they are good. One should get ig rewards first, not more characterslots and such stuff. And giving an account the opportunity to get a rune for any character he wants is...... not very good. I think the token should be chosen after the rp it was achieved for. I would do it in three different ways:
I) Skill for RP
F.e.: A lesson at the academy. Student and teacher are there for 3 - 4 hours in the library and talk about illusions, discussing the good and bad sides of it, while the teacher shows some (emoted) ways of an illusion. A GM watches them and decides to give out a token. In this situation, giving them +1% Pervestigatio for example, would be cool.
Other situation. Some warriors RP in the woods to train their dodge, by throwing rocks after one of them, while he dodges. After some time, he should get +1% Dodge
and so on
II) Items for RP
f.e. A druid RPs in a very nice way, how he mixtures strange things together to achieve a special aim (f.e. mixing a molotov, poison, etc.)
or
Some people have a nice rp in the woods. Maybe halflings, rolling around on the floor and doing somersaults. After some time they could find an item by "accident"
and so on
III) Accountbonus for RP
This should be made, if the rped situation isn't compared to any special thing and therefore doesn't give a reason for one of the other tokens. The player may then chose between:
-Changing the attributes of his character
-Getting told the exact % of his character's skills
-Getting a special char for a miniquest (f.e. a wolf, rabbit, cow) note: No uber skilled characters for a long lasting quest should be given out.

Taeryon, the GMs don't have enough time to give you items every time you mix a molotov, or to give you a swirly, and in fact, I think most people would prefer to get the point in dodge than emoting at a monster that's attacking them as they type. Or spending 4 hours rping random illusions when they could cast a few spells to swirly. People will not have the motivation to do this.
I don't like the ideas for the rewards from Adrian either, I don't like the huge possibility of biasism, or not being able to get a token because of who you're with. (e.g. you obviously can't rp superbly if you're with someone who only has a basic understanding of rp and therefore can't give you anything to rp with).

It isn't ment to be the new way to gain skill or item. It's ment to reward those, who actually do the rp.

You know, fun and a good time is my reward.

Illarion is a roleplay-game. You have to rp and this in a proper way. This should be standard, so no reason to reward.

Well, we have a lots of people who prefer pging to rping, because they get nothing from the rp. I think that is a good way to get more people to RP.

Then the rp of these player would be "pg-rping".
If the rp becuase of the reward, it's the wrong game for them

I would be for this because I can PG like crazy and RP my ass off with incredible awesome emotes. This means, I get my swirlies, and I get RP tokens. How kick ass would that be!
Edit: I meant train not PG because I do not do that.

Well good idea, but impossible to let everyone have the same chance to get a token, if a gm finds someone who is tokenworthy i guess he jsut stucks with this charand won't be looking around, another thing is that those who actually play good enough rp but play to the wrong timezone won't get any benefit from it aswell, unless you want ten gms just reading the logs all day.

When this GM spots what he determines to be exceptional roleplay from a character or a group of characters, he may assign "Roleplay Tokens".
i just tried to visualize the system:
someone(he):me tries to put his hand in her pantsies.
someone(she):Aay... you got so agile hands.
someone(she):me thrusts her body forwards
someone(he):me tries to cut her bra open with his battle axe
invisible GM:Ooouuu.... Aaaahh....
GM: me apears in front of the two lovers
GM: be happy folks! you just won this weeks RP token!
GM: keep on the good work!
ehem... even hadrian has had better ideas...

There already is a roleplay reward.
It's called tax money.

All those who are paid from the TB coffers, for instance, receive a reward directly for their RP. Not in terms of quality/quantity, but rather for accepting a certain duty. Of course, I'm sad that I really cannot pay them as much as doing a full-time guard duty would require. A guard in illa is of course the fan where all the shit is eventually going to hit.
Man, my methaphors are getting better and better.

Hold! Everyone shush!
I have a solution. The GMS should test it on me to see if it works for a few months.
There, that solves the conflict, aye?
