The Grand Old Library of TrollsBane will remain both open and welcoming to all races, genders and levels of learning without prejudice. The Laws of the City of TrollsBane and it’s Government have full jurisdiction.
Long Term Goal/Mission ~
The Grand Old Library of TrollsBane is intended to collect, preserve and store all available knowledge for the Public trust. A Museum is also being planned to be built which will magically house ‘legendary’ items, equipment and Historical Artifacts.

§ 2 Contributing Works
Anyone is allowed to submit ((post)) works, art, poetry, Stories etc. All works must contain a Title for easy cataloging. Please sign your works so that you may get proper credit for the work. The Chief Librarian will catalog the work in the appropriate section of the Library for easy reference and access.
((Do not offer specifcs about quests, or ruin the RP of others as per GM rules for posting))
§ 3 Borrowing Works
All works in the Library are forbidden to leave the Library once submitted. If one wishes a copy of the work, simply request a table and a scribe will assist you to copy the needed pages.
§ 4 Correcting/translating Works
Corrections or additions to submitted works are allowed, but please submit them as separate scrolls. Please indicate which work it is referring to, and rest assured, it shall be cataloged next to the referenced work. Only the original author(s) will be allowed to edit and update their own works.
Administration ~
§ 5 Board of Trustees
The Government of TrollsBane and relevant persons are appointed to ‘oversee’ the operations of the Library.
§ 5.1 Management
The Chief Librarian is the manager and cataloger of the Library and it’s works.
§ 5.2 Additional Staff
The Board of Trustees will meet to decide, interview, hire and fire any additional or current staff for the Library. Future possible positions include Museum Curator, Scribe, and Event Coordinator.

Felicitations!
This is the beginning of a long work to collect and catalogue all the great works out there and yet to be created for the peoples of Gobiath.
This is a project that will hopefully stand as long as the Grand Old Library has, and will benefit all who submit works here.((Who knows? Maybe the GM's will turn someone's scroll here into an IG Book!))
Please bear with us as we begin and make changes to better the Library stacks, as old scrolls are found, and new ones written, please continue to check the Catalogue for new works to see.
News:
Began the Catalogue for the Grand Old Library.
Today, we have also added three new works to the Library shelves. Two of the works I have been compiling "A Simplified Taxonomy of the Indiginous Species of Gobiath" and "A simple Orcish Dictionary". The third is an old scroll that was restored about an amusing game of Onionball in "Onionball-The best Game in Gobiath" which happily also comes in an old language version.
More works to come in the coming weeks and months!
Plans:
Would like to begin collecting works about all subjects in all languages from people of Gobiath. The Library shelves are being reorganized and cleaned. Some works have become books, but most are scrolls.
Also would like to begin recieving donations of specimins of plants as well as rare and exotic weapons, armor, rings, etc. to all be put on display in a future addition to the Library called the Museum. I would like to plan the construction of a Basement level to preserve and display all manner of artifacts of rare and historic value. I appreciate all who aid in this project and the donors will be listed on a special banner near the door.
The 'Noble' Prize
This will be an annual prize of coins once a year to the author(s) who contributed the best scroll. The scroll should be well-written, inspiring, factual and or emotional. All works contributed over the year will be independently evaluated, and a secret prize given for the most "Noble" work. The Competition starts now and ends in one year. ((3 RL months))

Species: Blumen
Genus: Ediblus Berrus
Berries – The Simple ‘Blue’ Berry comes in a cluster of 30-40 berries upon a single clump. It is well-known that these berries are native to the Western Woods, and only rarely seen in other areas of Gobiath.
Use: Unknown
Blackberry – The diminutive Blackberry looks like a very small clump of 20 black spheres. It is seen often within prairie and woodland environments and appears to be found all over Gobiath.
Use: Unknown
Grapes – These ‘purple’ fruits come in a cluster of 15-20 berries upon a single clump. These are often produced on ‘domesticated’ Grape vines and bushes, often near settlements or heavily traveled areas.
Use: Grapes are squeezed and fermented by Brewers to make Wine
Hops – These wild flowers have only recently become domesticated for agricultural use. Hops Seeds are only imported at this time to a merchant in Greenbriar, and are only grown in the colder climes. The wild variety can be found in Prairie environments all over Gobiath.
Use: Hops can be grinded into a powder, with Grain by Brewers to be fermented into Beer.
Strawberries – These wild Berries have yet to be domesticated. They come in red/pink pairs of berries and can commonly be found in Prairie and Light Forest Environments.
Use: These sweet fruits are used by advanced Cooks to make Strawberry Cake.
Genus: Ediblus Consumus
Cabbage Plants – These domesticated plants resemble small Green heads, lying close to the ground. They grow in three stages over the most lengthy growing season. Fully grown, the cabbages can be picked from the ground, or left to age and wither. These ‘withered’ seeds are then picked up and used to plant new Cabbage plants again.
Use: Fully grown, the plants produce Cabbages, which are used in ‘Cabbage Stew’ by Cooks and as an ingredient in Green Dye by Tailors.
Greens – These domesticated plants resemble four sprouts of green leaves, lying close to the ground. They grow in three stages over a lengthy growing season. Fully grown, the Greens are picked, with attached carrots emerging from beneath the ground, or they can be left to age and wither. The ‘seeds’ are then picked up and used to plant new Greens again.
Use: Fully grown, the plants produce Carrots, which are used in ‘Cabbage Stew’ and ‘Mulligan’ by Cooks. Halfling Merchants also love carrots.
Onion Plant – These domesticated plants resemble tall green shoots, standing up from the ground. They grow in three stages over a lengthy growing season. Fully grown, the Onion Plants can be pulled exposing Onions from beneath the ground, or the plant can be left to age and wither. These ‘onion’ seeds are then picked up and used to plant new Onion plants again.
Use: Fully grown, the plants produce Onions, which are used in ‘Cabbage Stew’, ‘Onion Soup’and Mulligan by Cooks and as an ingredient in Red Dye by Tailors. Onions are also especially used in a favorite Halfling Sport called ‘Onionball’.
Tomatoe Plant – These domesticated plants resemble tall bushes with reddish fruits, standing high from the ground, often requiring a bean-pole to support its own weight. They grow in three stages over a lengthy growing season. Fully grown, the Tomatoes can be picked from the Tomatoe bush, or left to age and wither. These tomatoe seeds are then picked up and used to plant new Tomatoe plants again.
Use: Fully grown, the plants produce Tomatoes, which are used in ‘Cabbage Stew’ by Cooks. Tomatoes are also especially used by Mischievous Warriors and Faeries for humiliation and pranks respectively.
Wheat – These domesticated plants resemble small, ‘Light Green’ fields of Grass, growing taller as time advances. They grow in three stages over the shortest growing season. Fully grown, the wheat must be allowed to dry and turn ‘brown’ before harvesting with a Scythe. During Harvest, the Wheat is bundled to prepare for flailing. The bundles of wheat are then flailed, separating the Wheat from the Chaff, leaving behind Grain.
Use: The Grain can be used to plant more wheat, or mixed with Hops to make Beer. Grain properly processed, can be ground up, and turned into Flour for Cooks to use to make Breads, Pies and Cakes.
Genus: Flowus Wildus
4-leaf Oneberry – this small common plant is often found in Prairie environments and consists of a single berry-like flower extending over a base of four leaves.
Use: Unknown
Angerberry – this small green flower is commonly found in the mountains or within woodland hedges. There is a story of a dwarf ‘Bombur’ who was mining in the copper mountains when a human came by offering to help. Together they mined into the night and stored up a vast quantity for the pack animals to carry. On the way down the mountain path, they were talking about dividing the money, and suddenly the Human betrayed the dwarf by tossing him from the path and down the mountainside. Although injured, the dwarf swore such a vengeful oath and curse to Irmorom, it is kept as a great secret in dwarven society to this day. Irmorom took pity on the dwarf and brought forth a storm so fast, winds so strong, and lightning like a hammer hit the Human and killed him on the spot. The human’s body exploded in a flash of light and the blood of this traitor adorns this little plant to this day. Sadly, the white pack animal was burnt from the exposure to the lightning and was also scarred black in places. Dwarves never trust strangers to this day, and resent the very idea of ‘tossing’ a dwarf. The Angerberry says to all who listen, beware the dwarven curse.

Black Thistle – This small common black flower is commonly found within prairie environments.
Use: Unknown
Desert Sky Capsule – This colorful flower can often be found in the Kumdah Desert. It has a silvery stem, topped with a large green bulb.
Use: This Flower is said to release the element of wind in potions.
Firnis Blossom – This small white flower can often be found in the Prairie near streams. This is because they mainly grow symbiotically within Reeds. Where this flower is found, you can rest assured that the nearby reeds are healthy and the stream is free of pollution.
Use: The flower is said to be a key ingredient in Healing Potions and antidotes.
Flamegoblet Blossom – The large yellow flower is often found in the Kumdan desert.
Use: Unknown
Heath Flower – This quaint little flower is commonly found in Prairie environments. The grey flower appears ‘diamond-shaped’.
Use: Unknown
Life Root – This small grey root is difficult to both find and see, but often is only found in the Kumdan Desert.
Use: It is rumored that 5 of these roots are needed for a secret potion.
Night Angel’s Blossom – This beautiful, tiny little blue flower is commonly found only in the deep forests of Gobiath. It valued by elves, who love it for it’s beauty and innocence.
Use: Unknown
Sandberry – This strange little desert flower resembles berries but isn’t edible. It consists of two berries and three different colored flowers. It is only rarely found in the Kumdan desert.
Use: It is said that it can strengthen the effect of potions.
Sun Herb – This tiny little yellow flower can often be found growing among sunflowers. Rarely seeds will sprout into a Sun Herb in the open prairie too.
Use: Unknown
Virgin’s weed – These innocent flowers are white in color and often can be found in the Mountains and rarely in the woods too. It is said that a maiden, heartbroken at the news of her Lover’s Death in a War, threw herself off of the Copper Mountains. Her innocent blood turned the local flowers ‘white’. The Lover returned, only wounded and found nothing but these little white flowers, which he gave to a young lady he fancied, who is rumored to have suffered many cuts to her hand. That was the only time that these flowers ever had thorns.

Yellow weed – This little weed, commonly found on the Prairies has a small stem ended by a tiny yellow flower.
Use: Unknown
Genus: Leafus Broadus
Donf Blade – This wide, giant Leaf is deep green in color. When properly squeezed, it secretes a resin which dries over time, and is sticky to the touch. It is commonly found in the deep forests.
Use: Often used as a way to stick things together.
Foot Leaf – This Light brown wide, giant Leaf is commonly found in the Mountains. It appears folded and ends with several ‘protrusions’. It is rumored that a nasty Gnome once tried to steal a wizard’s Wand of Earth. The Gnome tripped on a pebble, and the wizard, unknowing what was behind him, let loose a powerful enchantment he had prepared for Ogers. The powerful spell turned the poor little Gnome into a leaf. His ‘foot’ cursed him to a lifetime of ‘sneaking’ up on travelers in the Mountains.
Use: Rumored to be useful to make antidotes.
Sibanic – This sweet smelling herb is rarely found in reeds and nearby creeks. This special herb consists of three ‘spear-like’ leaves. Its fibrous consistency makes it ideal for spinning into thread. It is also highly treasured among Trolls, Bards and Halflings for its combustive properties and sweet, sweet taste in a pipe.
Use: Thread and smoking
Steppe Fern – This wide, broad leaf is light brown in color, ending with many ‘protrusions’ at the sides. It is rarely found lying on the ground in prairies and near mountains.
Use: Unknown
Genus: Roomus Mushus
Birth Mushroom – This small grey mushroom stands tall and is commonly found in woods and prairie. It is said that if this mushroom is left alone, and watched in the light of the full moon during the Elvish Holiday of Neriune, Faeries will appear as if ‘born’ from them. It has never been reported to have been seen by non-elvish peoples and could be an elvish joke.
Use: Unknown
Bulbsponge Mushroom – This bright yellow mushroom is topped by a bulb of sponge. Believe it or not, this is not why it is named. The story goes that a goblin by the name of “Spongebulb Squarepants” carried the seeds of these from the mainland. Being lost, the Goblin placed seeds along the way so he could find his way back. This was a smart idea for a Goblin, however when the Goblin turned round a week later, he looked for the seeds to find his way back. All he saw were yellow mushrooms…..…no seeds…...where were his seeds? Naturally, he couldn’t find his way back. It is rumored that this silly Goblin still wanders Gobiath to this day, looking for his trail of seeds.
Use: Used in secret potions known only to druids
Champignon – This tasty little light brown mushroom is commonly found in forests, especially in ‘Faery Circles’, Circles of mushrooms that grow around places rumored to be blessed by faeries. It is poisonous to eat, until cooked.
Use: Used in mushroom soup.
Herders Mushroom – This silvery, light grey mushroom has a segmented stem and is rather large, for a mushroom. It is rarely found in the Deep woods.
Use: Unknown
Red Head – This small light brown mushroom somewhat resembles the common birth mushroom has a stain of red upon its tip, hence the name. It is rarely found and often only in the forests. It is highly valued among druids.
Use: Ingredient for Food Potions
Toadstool – This common, large mushroom is light brown in color with a dark brown stem. It is commonly found in the forests.
Use: Unknown
Species: Baumen
Apple – This common, yet hardy fruit tree is found almost everywhere in Gobiath. It produces Apples year-round which are a common source of sustenance for many, but especially Faeries. When cut, the apple wood is soft, and is useful for crafting plates, bowls and other simple wares. Boughs from this tree are also very useful too.
Use: Apple. Apple Wood, Boughs
Cachdern – This towering Giant has the grace reminiscient of its origins in Tol Vanima, where the tree first appeared in year 20 CE, and has since spread to many corners of Gobiath. When cut, this hardwood tree consists of Naldor Wood and Boughs.
Use: Naldor Wood, Boughs
Ceridern – The short, flowering tree is akin to the ‘Ironwood’ family of trees found on the Mainland, and like its distant cousins, can not be cut, the wood is too hard. This tree has no other use than decorative.
Use: Decorative only
Cherry – This common, yet hardy fruit tree is found almost everywhere in Gobiath. It produces Cherries year-round which are a common source of sustenance for many, but especially Faeries, who like to use them to stain the backs of unwary travelers ‘red’. When cut, the Cherry wood is soft, yet durable, and is useful for crafting arrows and other ‘delicate’ wares. Branches from this tree are also very useful too.
Use: Cherry, Cherry Wood, Branches
Conifer – This evergreen grows in dense forests and only occasionally upon prairie too. Its branches are dense, giving the tree a conical shape. The wood from this tree is harder than cherry or apple, and is very useful in crafting heavier, stronger items such as cooking spoons, combs, wooden shovels, buckets, etc. The fir seedlings can be planted to grow new conifer trees.

Fir – This evergreen tree grows in sparse areas where many other trees would not survive such as mountains. It has multiple, distinct branches.
Use: Naldor Wood
Naldor – This tall and graceful tree adorns many prairie environment. The branches run vertically as opposed to the normal horizontal alignment.
Use: Naldor Wood and Boughs
Oak – The ‘King’ of trees. This majestic Giant has been worshipped in many cultures and races for centuries, and is held in high regard in the NorthMark.
Use: Currently Unknown
Palm – This thin tree is commonly found in the North Lands, such as Nordmark and in desert terrain such as Varshikar and Sirani. This tree also derives from the ‘Ironwood’ family of trees and can not be cut as yet. The bark that falls from this tree produces an ‘amber’ colored resin, which when mixed by a Tailor, can make yellow dye.

Onionball - The best game in Gobiath

History: The origins of Onionball are unclear. Perhaps it was the fore runner of 'Tomato' fighting some warriors use today. Whatever the history, it was the only 'sport' in Gobiath. It is well-known that the original field used to be in Trolls Bane, until it was replaced by the Arena. A second field was made in Greenbriar due to Halfling's unusual love for the game, as well as the plentiful supply of Onions. Today, the only field is found in Greenbriar.
The Field: Looks like a 'lazy' figure eight. The players stand within the grassy parts of each circle, but do not cross the 'muddy' outlines. One player to a circle. A Referee stands toward the middle.
The Ball: A Smelly Onion.
The Rules:
1) A player (A) begins with the ball and prepares to throws the Onion.
2) The other player (B) begins to walk around randomly within his/her circle. Standing still will automatically give the throwing player (A) a point.
3) Player 'A' throws the Onion trying to put it in front of player 'B' so player 'B' walks onto or touches it.
3) If Player 'B' walks onto or touches it, player 'A' gets a point. If not, it misses. The referee determines a point or miss.
4) Whether point or miss, player 'B' now gets the Onion and prepares to throw it while player 'A' begins to walk randomly to avoid it, and the game continues as written above.
5) The game continues until one player reaches 3 points first and wins. Historically, it has been 10 points, but this makes for longer games. The choice is up to the referee.
So go, practice and enjoy the game!

Once upon a time there were three halflings, each a farmer. Two of the halflings, man by the name of Frado and Erno were cabbage farmers and each one took his pride in growing the best and largest cabbage. And so it came, that these two halflings couldn't stand each other. In between the cabbage fields of Frano and Erno lay the onion field of the halflingwoman Sanya, who's onions grew rather well, of which she didn't make a big deal. In fact the onions grew so well that they spread into the adjacent cabbage fields, which of course made Frado and Erno nearly mad. But they both liked Sanya very much, so they didn't say anything to her. They unplugged the onions from there ground and threw them over the field of Sanya onto the cabbage field of the rival. In the evening the onion smelling feet would tell, who had gotten the most onions and had therefore lost.

Zwiebelball - Das beste Spiel auf Gobiath

Historisches: Die Ursprünge des Zwiebelballspiels sind etwas unklar. Möglicherweise handelt es sich dabei um einen Vorläufer des "Tomatenwerfens", welches einige Kämpfer heutzutage praktizieren. Wie auch immer die Geschichte dieses Spiels lauten mag, es war der einzige Sport auf Gobiath. Es ist wohl bekannt, daß sich das ursprüngliche Spielfeld in Troll's Bane befand, bevor es von der Arena abgelöst wurde. Ein zweites Spielfeld wurde in Greenbriar eingerichtet, da die Halblinge dieses Spiel über alle Maßen liebten und auch die notwendige Anzahl von Zwiebeln bereitstellen konnten. Das einzige Spielfeld befindet sich heutzutage in Greenbriar.
Das Spielfeld: Das Spielfeld sieht aus wie eine liegende Acht. Die Spieler stellen sich in die mit Gras bedeckten Kreise, dürfen aber die "erdigen" Linien nicht übertreten. Jeder (der beiden) Spieler besetzt einen Kreis. Ein Schiedsrichter steht an der Mittellinie.
Der Ball: Eine übelriechende Zwiebel.
Die Regeln:
1) Spieler (A) beginnt mit dem Ball und bereitet sich darauf vor, die Zwiebel zu werfen.
2) Der andere Spieler (B) läuft nach Belieben in seinem oder ihrem Kreis umher. Stehen zu bleiben bedeutet automatisch einen Punkt für den gegnerischen Spieler (A).
3) Spieler (A) wirft die Zwiebel und versucht sie vor den Füßen von Spieler (B) zu platzieren, so daß dieser unweigerlich die Zwiebel berühren oder darauftreten muß.
3) Tritt Spieler (B) auf die Zwiebel oder berührt diese mit dem Fuß, so erhält Spieler (A) einen Punkt. Wenn nicht, so gilt dies als missglückt und als Fehlversuch. Der Schiedsrichter entscheidet, ob es sich um einen Punkt oder einen Fehlversuch handelt.
4) Ob Punkt für Spieler (A) oder Fehlversuch, Spieler (B) bekommt nun die Zwiebel und bereitet sich nun seinerseits darauf vor, den Ball zu werfen. Spieler (A) muß sich nun nach Belieben in seiner Hälfte bewegen und versucht nun selbst, nicht auf die von Spieler (B) geworfene Zwiebel zu treten oder diese zu berühren. Das Spiel wird wie oben beschrieben fortgesetzt, wobei sich die beiden Seiten abwechseln.
5) Das Spiel wird solange fortgesetzt, bis einer der beiden Spieler 3 Punkte zusammen hat und damit gewinnt.Historisch gingen die Spiele bis 10 Punkte, was eine drastische Erhöhung der Spielzeit bedeutete. Bis zu welcher Punktegrenze ein Spiel geht, liegt im Ermessen des Schiedsrichters.

Es gab einmal drei Halblinge, die allesamt Bauern waren. Zwei der Halblinge, Männer mit den Namen Frado und Erno, waren Kohlbauer und jeder rümte sich, den besten und größten Kohl anzubauen. Und so kam es, daß diese beiden Hobbits sich nicht riechen konnten. Zwischen den Kohlfeldern von Frado und Erno lag das Zwiebelfeld der Halblingfrau Sanya, deren Zwiebeln hervorragend gediehen, woraus sie aber keine große Sache machte. Die Zwiebeln wuchsen so gut, daß sie sich auch die beiden Kohlfelder ausbreiteten, was natürlich Frado und Erno über alle Maßen ärgerte. Da sie aber beide Sanya sehr mochten, sagten sie nichts zu ihr. Stattdessen rissen sie die Zwiebeln auf ihren Feldern aus und warfen sie über das Feld von Sanya hinweg auf das Kohlfeld des Rivalen. Am Abend zeugten die nach Zwiebel riechenden Füße davon, wer die meisten Zwiebeln abbekommen und somit verloren hatte.

About Orcs who speak Common:
The Orc common language is a difficult one to understand. Their native tongue consists of a series of incomprehensible grunts, roars and noises. However, when an Orc speaks common, they have a very strong accent, which often causes misunderstandings. This work will attempt to aid the common tongue “non-Orc” speaker to pronounce words easily understand by a native Orc speaker in Common. The Physiology of the Orc throat and Warrior culture makes a dictionary for Orcs to speak common, useless to them, except as a collector of waste from their backsides.
To elaborate, the throat of the average Orc is 2-3 times larger than an average Human’s and therefore causes a deeper resonance. Also, the tendency to grunt causes problems enunciating the finer points of the common language.
Enunciation tips:
Vowels are commonly stretched to accommodate the fangs. For instance ‘O’ commonly becomes a ‘U’ or even an ‘E’ sound.
Soft consonents such as ‘H’ are commonly omitted.
Terminating consonants such as ‘T’ and ‘V’ are softened into ‘B’ or ‘F’.
Difficult or multi-syllable words are commonly substituted with an ‘easier’ or even ‘demeaning’ word.
For those trying to speak to an Orc, here’s a tip:
Imagine tying a small brick to a medium-thickness rope. The rope doesn't need to be very long. Tie a loop on the other end of the rope that is probably big enough for your fist to fit through it comfortably. Instead of putting your fist through that loop, put your lower jaw through it. Rest the loop on your bottom teeth. Begin talking. Take notes on poor speech pronunciation. Remove brick and mimic mentally. Repeat as necessary.
