I find it anoying that its imposible to ask for help becouse of the RP law. so maybe you could have a sound proof room or a portel that lets Noobs (like me) learne how to play the game without the hassle of searching through a Cayotic forum, geting nowhere.
You could say
Random noob 1: how do you Collect items you find on the ground?
Random noob 2: Right click/Control click On your pouch which is in your inventory on the side. Then click on open. Then drag the object into your pouch.
I had to work this out the hard way.

why don't you just ask with ooc masked texts?
#w (( How do i do this or that ))
or
#o How do i do this or that
Every "older" player will see this as ooc text and will help you. So what is the problem.

i think he means a global one. you can't ask someone if there is no one there

Everything you need to know you can find in the manual. There are always someone around to ask. Annoying all players with a gloabal message would hardly be a good idea. If there are any further questions, simply use the newbie section of this forum.

...or !gm a GM.
Instead of a global chat, it is planned to introduce a newbie island to the game. There, one can learn about he basic commands.

Hello!
Well, such a portal is called manual and should be read before entering the game. It may not be up-to-date at the moment but it is useful nonetherless.
NewBe(ing)-island would be another source for learning the game.
With kind regards

How do we get to this NewBe(ing)-island?

It's not done yet. New characters will start on the island when it is done.

I think that is weak. I mean so if I create a new character I have to go through a whole damned Island before I can RP? That blows...

Suck it up princess. The good outweighs the bad by far.

only the first char of an account starts on the newbie island resp. all chars until at least one char of that account went through the newbie island
This is how it should be...as already written above, not yet developed or implemented.

Or all other chars just know that they can just walk over the island and jump out...
How ever it goes. A solution will be found.

An npc asks a question, which needs to be answered, and other npcs wich you have to do stuff for to learn the game give that answer?
quite prone to abuse though.

How do you want to abuse this?

Well its better than having no idea until you just give up and stop playing...
Also... (long delay...)
I've forgotten what I was about to say now.

Posting the password on an online list somewhere for others.(Been done before.)
Though it won't be that bad I guess.

OMG! I always wondered why the manual was written Shakspear style.
"One can always learn the basic commands there!"
How posh!
No offence though! I just found it wierd!
Ahh1 Don't ban me !IM TO RANDOM TO DIE!
Also to the above, Why the H### would you post your password onto the global chat?!?!

NO,NO,NO,NO,NO!!!!!!
YO AREN'T LISTENING TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm talking about a button (That you can only use in towns so that you won't cheat), That when you press this magical button it telyports the presser to a, preferably big, room full of noobs and every one can here what everyone else is saying and there are a number of other guys giving out information.
It makes it much easier to learn when you don't have to RP everything,
Try RPing while asking someone how to open your backpack. but not only that, not everyone knows how to play and the odds of someone willing to spend there time teaching you is very low.

Gondana sorry butI have to disagree, almost every time a new char logs in and someone is in trollsbane and sees this char he or she tries to help, spending hours to just get the basics and a room full of newbies isn't helpfull anyway and we hopefully soon get a newb island.
Btw. there can be some fun even rping rules ig like:" #me giggles "Oh yes some of these bags can be tricky" she raises her hands and pulls some strings, thus opening the bag ((middle mousclick on the bag or left mousklick and go on open))
I allready did #me's like that for several things and it was enough and even brought rp to the new player.

The RP aspect of teaching new players also helps quite a lot get used to the RP of the game.
It makes it much easier to learn when you don't have to RP everything
... but, the RP is part of the learning ((and anything that can't be RP'd can be placed in double brackets))

I dislilke this idea.
Oh, and a question about Newbie Island. Could I have one of my characters sent there once it's built? Just to see what it's like?
