what are the ranks on this board?

if aperson were to go to the top rank would they be like a administrator or Gm right?

This board stuff has nothing to do with the game, so it doesn't influence your character.

i really want to be one so thats why i am asking.....

wel  as for game masters:

right now only the most aktive game developers are GMs and i  guess this will remain so for quite a while.

Making someone a GM is a question of trust and not easily done.

Just for one Question:  why do you want to become a GM??

right now all you can do is hopping around a bit and broadcasting, and in the next version maybe setting items.
the last thing you will have to understand, you will not be allowed to do at your leasure but only after consulting the programmers.

so, what does you make want to become a GM??

To my !! personal opinion you just want it for the status and propably also for the comming ability to change the map, and that are no good reasons, quite to the contrary.

I my self would rather stay a player and find out what you GM's have hide for us to find

i'd need ppl to cut them out (for the case you are not able to create gfx yourself..).

about cutting:
i render most graphics; these contain the image for the game, but are much too large...
the task is the following: i'd mail you an bmp-image with about 40-50 items or other images, you'd have to cut out the items to the smallest size possible, background= (255,0,255) (a kind of pink, which is read as transparent by the client). (you have to find out the smallest rectangle where the item fits in and cut out this rectangle, paste it as a new picture, save it as a *.bmp, zip all items together and send them to bror ).

1st i'd need your e-mail adress.
2nd, you'd have to do another little task, i'll explain that in german now:
ich rendere mit anti-alias, das heisst, dass es am rand pixel gibt, die eine mischfarbe zwischen hintergrund (mittleres grau) und koerper sind (textur eben). auf dem hintergrund, auf dem ichs gerendert hab, schaut das gut aus; auf anderen siehts schlecht aus. nun muesste man die extrem grauen pixel wegbekommen. ich mache das so, dass ich mittels farbersetztool in PSP mit einer toleranz von 14 den rand "ummale", aber nur da, wo keine feinheiten zu finden sind (duenne striche oder so). dort, wo duenne striche sind, mache ich floodfill (schuett-eimer) mit einer toleranz von 5.
dannach muessen noch einzelne pixel, die beim farbersetzungstool aus versehen umgefaerbt wurden (im inneren der graphik) "zurueckgefaerbt" (etwa, nicht genau) werden (es reicht dazu meist, einfach die alte hintergrundfarbe zu setzen, einzelne pixel sieht man nicht!). ich habe das beispielsweise fuer das erste bild gemacht (konkret geht es um eine elfin, die ich heute gerendert hab).
dannach muessten die bilder ausgeschnitten werden; chars in eine richtung (zb. links unten) muessen in gleichgrossen rahmen gezeichnet sein. eine richtung hat 4 animationsphasen; man muss also schauen, welche animationsphase am weitesten nach links geht, diesen wert aufschreiben, dasselbe fuer rechts, oben und unten machen, alles aufschreiben, und dann den aufgeschriebenen bereich bei jedem ausschneiden (sodass dann in den 4 neuen graphiken je eines ganz links, eines ganz oben, eines ganz unten und eines ganz in der mitte ist...).

ein bisschen hausverstand ist hier sicherlich nicht unangebracht, es ist nicht so schwer, wie sichs vielleicht anhoert...

For cutting you need only a simple graphics program to reduce the picture, so only the item is in the frame. The single colored borders must be cut off, to save memory.

The ones cutting them out will be able to see the new graphics earlier than the other players

well, i like paint shop pro, for it has several "goodies":
* at least the trial-verision is free
* it has neary the same features as photoshop has
* you can type in the selection you want to cut out (you don't have to do that per mouse, which is VERY difficult when you have to work with an accuracy of 1 pixel!)
* you can easily put away anti-aliasing-effects by using the floodfill and the color-change tools with tolerance.

therefore, i'd suggest to use that program.
i'd ask you to finish your work or to formulate questions fast (or to send me an example of your work, so i can see wether its good or not )

to sword: I think that you came from Tibia here and just want a little bit might, that is not bad, but it is not the Sense of Illarion!

This topic isn't old. It's historical. It's ancient.

Currently I am not in need of help with this, there are not too many graphics to cut out and I "developed" some quite fast ways to do that, but they require some non-trivial knowledge of 2D-graphics-programs. (layers and such)
In case there are some things to do I will let you know.
