New Fishing System

(This has been proposed by me sooo many times, lets see how the new proposal board handles it).

Current Fishing system: You use a fishing rod/Claws with the water, and you MIGHT catch a fish (Trout/Salmon) or you MIGHT catch nothing, or you might instead lose your rod (get it dragged by a fish).
-

New proposal:

Difference in 'How to' Fish

Fishing should take time, similar to other crafts. The time should be random, and depending on your skill level.

Difference in 'Production'

Fishing should be considered as a sort-of craft. Fish 'produced' will have a quality level, and are .: unstackable. However, upon USING the fish, it'll be converted to 'fish meat', which IS stackable.

The fish meat reflects a cleaned fish.

The quality level will reflect the competence of the fisher, a 'low quality' fish, will give very little fish-meat, (a small fish) while a 'high quality' fish will give a lot.

More things you can do with fishmeat

1) Fish soup
2) Grilled Fish
3) Grilled fish with [insert vegetable/fruit] sauce
4) Baked fish

You get the idea...

More fish

Obviously, different kind of fish which can be caught. Special rare fishes which have different fish meat (all others can be stacked), and are worth their weight in gold.

Fish you find in rivers, fish you find in seas, different areas better for fishing ect...

Oops? What's this

Instead of finding lamps...

1) Shoes [oops?]
2) Bags with items in [someone dropped this? there was a corpse?]
3) Bags without items in [same as above]
4) Boots [corpse?]
5) Small amount of coins [loose change?]
6) Large amount of coins [oooh a treasure chest]
7) Shirts [*cough cough*]
8) Pants [dead corpses?]
9) Skull [spooky]
10) Wine bottles [from a merchant ship?]
11) Empty mugs [from a ship]
12) Parchment
13) Treasure map [good static quest starter]
14) Rusty weapons [aaar pirates]

The list of stuff which you can find in the sea is endless

Fish Traps

This is another of my ideas. A new item made by carpenters, Fish Trap.

First you load it with bait (fish meat?), you then use it with reeds.

It passes through a few rot cycles (similar to farming, until its ready to be drawn in). Changes are that you have a few small fish in it, or it was broken by something (and ruined), or you find a lobster

Lobsters

These should be a rare delicacy, obtainable only through fish-traps, and cooked by only the best chefs...

The rest, is Roleplay :)

(This WILL of course need new graphics...)

So, anyone like it?

1. How to fish.
Yes i agree it should be automated and you simply use it once, then slowly get fish at random times. A better fishers would be able to get fish faster.

2. Production. Umm, doesn't really seem nessessary.

3. Things to do with fish meat.
Yeah, we aren't getting any more fish dishes. So what we have now is what we will have, as I am pretty sure grilled fish and the like has already been shot down.

4. More fish.
oui oui. (french for yes yes) We do need more then just the two fish and could do with some ocean fish to.

5.Oops what's this
First off, did you take this from runescape you nub?
1. yes
2. no
3. no I just see this taking away from tailors already slim business.
4. yes
5. no
6. no
7. no, same reason as bag.
8. no
9. maybe
10. no. for the simple reason that it wouldn't be possible to snare one.
11. no.
12. yeah. after all parchement was origionally made out of thin skin.
13. no. this is what made me ask if you went runescape on us.
14. no

though i do suggest stuff like branches and water plants.

6. Fish traps.
for what you want about about a tailor made net. and any other lobster pot or the like would need a tailor made net. so for the pot a tailor would simply need a box frame made by carpenter. you could get all sorts of things with this. much junk like plants. but also fish. should need certain skill to use though.

7. this should go under "new fish"

It's automated already I believe.

There are fish dishes, it's just harder to be able to make this. Both the salmon and the trout are still can be cooked into meals like it was (referring to before crafting update).

PS: just telling the facts...

pls reread so that you can better make an intelligent post. and as for it being automated i am unsure as i have yet to try it since. I am simply saying it should be.

1) Shoes [oops?] Physically possible, but hard, and I doubt you'd fish 1 shoe then go "OOH, I'D BETTER CATCH THE OTHER ONE" for a pair.
2) Bags with items in [someone dropped this? there was a corpse?] Physically possible, but very hard.
3) Bags without items in [same as above] Physically possible, sort of hard
4) Boots [corpse?] Very hard to get the hook into boots
5) Small amount of coins [loose change?] Physically possible in a bag, hard to fish
6) Large amount of coins [oooh a treasure chest] Physically impossible with a piece of thread.
7) Shirts [*cough cough*] I doubt you could catch a shirt.
8) Pants [dead corpses?] ... no...
9) Skull [spooky] Possible I suppose.
10) Wine bottles [from a merchant ship?] That would be very hard, and they'd be EMPTY if you had to get something you could hook.
11) Empty mugs [from a ship] Hard.
12) Parchment - ... It would be soaking and soggy and you can't hook it.
13) Treasure map [good static quest starter] As above.
14) Rusty weapons [aaar pirates] They don't exactly drift, and I don't see pirates in Troll's Bane dropping swords in the stream. Plus, hard to fish out.

I think you're assuming the person fishing is a lizardman sticking their hand in the water...

I can tell you, that as of yesterday, it wasn't automated.

-

And I'm not going runescape on you, you can already fish up lamps (which also would be hard to fish I suppose)... so why not some variety?

Hmm, you're right about unrealistic though...

-

And you don't need a net for a fish-trap, I'll try to look for a picture... seen stuff like this already, though its not really a lobster pot..

Image

that sorta thing...

we are currently trying to get tailors more needed. Thus a net. And if you want a picture of an old lobster pot my dad has one in his bedroom. I hope i don't have to get a picture of it to prove to you it has fabric, like, stuff. Not sure what exactly it is it is kinda sinewy.
