The crunching of fresh snow beneath her thin leather shoes and the occasional unsettling breeze rustling the bare tree limbs was the only sound that met the young woman as she traversed through the fading forest, her direction pulling her towards the eastern gate of Troll's Bane. With head bent and teeth gritted, Adriana's small hands pull her thin cloak about her as a sharp gust of wind hits her from her left. By the Gods above, how she wished for winter to be over already. It was miserable, the nasty cold. Sure, to those whom have wandered Gobiath and lands further north the winter was mild, but to a girl weathered for the summer heat, it was torture. With a quiet grumble, Adriana shook her head beneath her hood and hurried in a fast pace over the bridge crossing the now fairly frozen stream separating the arena and distant forest from the gates of Bane.
As she hurried over the grounds, passing shortly through the gate, Adriana found herself fairly absorbed in her thoughts. It had been a few days now.. What was it, two days? Three? Or more..? It didn't matter. It had been too long. She hadn't seen Haniel since their moving talk in the tavern, the one that left her feeling completely vulnerable and yet confident. A contradiction, yes, but her entire life was a contradiction in itself. Still... She had hoped to see Haniel, wondered if the awkwardness still held between them that she had felt. It just seemed all a little too unreal for her to believe what she had said that night in the tavern. She had really said those words. And worse, she had meant every one of them, spoke and embraced purely. Frowning, the girl comes to a stop between the library and tavern, ignoring the sudden fluttering feeling within her. Pale eyes flicking to the two buildings, the young woman took a moment to ponder over where she had been going. The tavern? No. By the sounds of it, the tavern was already full. Muffled, yet still loud voices echoed into the alley as the sun began to slowly set. Looking forward again, a short smile touches Adriana's lips as again she moves in that hurried pace to the workshop.
The campfire! Rarely did she go to enjoy some peaceful solitude at the campfire, but there was no more perfect moment than now. Tossing a quick, flickering look into the open door of the workshop, the girl continues on, turning to her left and walking past the hedges toward the logs settled on the ground, a strong flame still burning in the campfire. Her smile widening, Adriana moved about the logs before dropping down on one, drawing her knees up and moving as close to the fire as she could without becoming uncomfortable. With a faint, soft sigh, Adriana allowed her gaze to drop to the dancing, twisting flames. The orange light of the fire lit up her face, their dance reflected in her pale eyes as she lost herself in the fire's display, comforted by its warmth washing over her. Again, her thoughts trailed off. She visualized that man's face, recalled the content feeling as his arms pulled her into that sweet embrace. As a quaint smile appears on her lips, Adriana allows her chin to drop, eyes fluttering closed. His feelings.. Her feelings... They had felt true. For the first time, that warm embrace, that tender kiss.. It had been real.. Had it not? Pursing her lips, the girl keeps her eyes closed as a hand raises to idly comb through her dark brown hair before falling slowly. It was real, at least to her. It was true, honest. But even still... Not knowing what she was stumbling into, Adriana wondered. Why did that honesty scare her so?

Haniel walked through the outer edges of the southern forest. His mind was running wild like the deer he saw between the ancient trees of the woods. The snow upon the ground shimmered in the winter sun, bringing an annoying glare in his eyes. Haniel sighed, bringing his right arm to cover his face. He spoke softly to himself,
"This snow is blinding... Perhaps I should head back to town before I run into a slew of skeletons. That would be most unfortunate."
Haniel turned slowly in place, his boots crunching in the snow below him. He hummed an old, elvish tune to himself as he walked. A smile formed on his face as he continued his trek back to Troll's Bane. He knew that she would be there. He had left her alone for several days... oh how he longed for her embrace... to see that smile. Haniel chuckled to himself as he imagined her tilting her head as she looked up at him, her arms around his chest. He missed her terribly. He then quickened his pace to a light jog and continued until he reached the town gates.
Haniel's hands slipped on the handle of the gate. He laughed to himself noticing his clammy palms. Was he really that nervous to see her? It had only been a couple days ago when she was in his embrace... content with him... with herself. Why would he be worried?
On his way up the main causeway of Troll's Bane, he tipped his hat to several people, a smile unable to escape his face. He idly stopped at the well near the smithy, lowering down the bucket to get a drink. As he leaned over, he noticed a small figure by the fire. He chuckled to himself and dropped the bucket without a second thought. As the bucket rumbled back down the well, Haniel quickly moved to the campfire. He came up behind her and spoke in a tender, passionate voice,
"Laine... I mean, Adriana... Long time no see."
He smiled as he slowly slipped his hands around her sides from behind, leaning down to kiss her on the back of her neck softly.
He knew she would be here.

The young woman had been far more wrapped up in her musings than she had realized. So lost was she in her whirling thoughts that the sounds of her surroundings were not heard. The muffled splash of the bucket as it hit the well water or the crunch of fresh snow beneath heavy, approaching footsteps did not register. As her pale brown eyes stared deep into the blinding light of the flames, all Adriana saw or heard was the crackling of the fire and the fall of logs as they were gradually consumed by the heat. Her brows were knitted together, absently chewing her lower lip as she fought internally with herself. She didn't understand what was going on with her emotions. Adriana knew very well, she could feel it, that her emotions were pure and true this time. Yet, she always refused to admit it. She wouldn't admit to herself what she knew was the full truth. This hesitation irritated the young woman. Why? Why did she want to hesitate, why was she so afraid of something, someone she loved just the same?
Adriana did not become aware of her quiet company until those warm hands slowly slipped about her. The unexpected embrace from those strong arms startled Adriana at first. Instinctively, the girl moved to escape, mild fright flicking over her face as she tries to move away. But, when that gentle, hauntingly comforting voice found its way to her, the girl hesitated in her struggle. Freezing, eyes wide, Adriana listened to that voice that held a note of passion that threatened to scare her more than the sudden grasp of an unknown person. Nonetheless, she couldn't help but relax as the realization of who it was behind her, who her captor was, hit her. Slowly, the fright on her young face dispersed, willingly giving way to a discreet little smile. She didn't even seem to notice the use of her old name, the wondering of why he used it quickly forgotten as she feels his breath on her neck. The sensation of his lips brushing against the back of her neck sent a faint shiver down her spine, something that made her tiny smile waver slightly. His effect on her simply scared her too much.
With a quiet sigh, Adriana waits for a moment before slowly craning her neck about, pale brown eyes searching for his face. The smile returns, broadening gradually as her gaze meets his. With a soft voice, she speaks.
"A long time, indeed. What, two days?"
The tender smile quirked, amusement twisting it as she absently reaches out, a hand finding his. Then, after a brief moment of silence, the young woman turns back. With a passing look to the warm fire, she pushes herself off the old log. Turning about, she doesn't give the moment a second thought before stepping over the log and sliding her arms about the elf's chest in a warm embrace. Her head rests against his chest as she tightens her hold deliberately, hands flat against his strong back. As the girl remains silent, she allows herself to be wrapped up in his warmth and settled by his presence. He was just another contradiction in her life, wasn't he. Haniel... He had the ability to scare and comfort her at the same time. The sudden, fast beating of her heart told her nothing. Was it from her fear and hesitation? Or was it for once because of her contentment of knowing he was here? Why, damn it, could she not figure herself out anymore? Closing her eyes tightly, the girl did nothing more. She was fully, completely happy. She wanted to say nothing. She wanted to do nothing. She simply wanted to be 'there'. In his arms. In his embrace. Maybe, for once, she could forget that fear forever embedded in her heart...

Haniel stood frozen in time and space. Her embrace was sweeter than elven wine. Warmer than the flames of Bragon. Haniel's arms felt like lead as he lowered them slowly across her back, ending at her hips. His face remained blank, even after hearing her playful words.
I love her... I... I've never felt so enveloped in my feelings for a woman. A soft smile slowly formed on his lips. He lowered his head slowly, and kissed her tenderly on the head. He shifted his weight to the right, the snow under his right foot crunching softly. It was so good to see her, even if it had only 2 days. He spoke tenderly, her soft hair sticking to his moist lips.
"2 days or 2 years Adri, makes no difference to me. It was far too long."
Haniel then brought up a pale hand and ran his fingers through her soft hair, humming quietly. The sound of the bustling town surrounding them became a faint whisper, barely heard over her quiet, short breaths and his humming.

It was still pounding. Mercilessly, intensely, her heart still pounded, beating a steady crescendo against her chest that only she could hear. The feel of his arms as they fell to her hips was pure solace. It insured her and let her know that he was there for real. Never before had Adriana known a man to hold her the way he did. Always, every time was their embrace cold and, underneath the play-up of false emotions, completely empty. But his? Haniel's was far different, warm and true. Gradually, that timid smile waned before fading away completely. As his lips brush against her, Adriana tilted her head up, her eyes opening. The look on the young woman's face was completely serious, no mask shielding the raw emotions flowing through her. Despite the words she had said, the way she embraced him, she had never allowed herself to admit it. She never dared to lose the young naivity and accept the fact. But now, as her pale gaze locked on his face and his quiet humming seemed to push the surroundings away, Adriana couldn't help but settle with herself right then and there. No other explanation gave way to that tantalizing, almost scary sensation that was washing over her. She really did love him. It wasn't just some fickle emotion of the young girl's heart. She had fallen for the very person she had thought least likely ever to want to experience those emotions over.
At his words, Adriana only gave him a fleetingly sheepish smile as her hands ran up to his neck, fingers intertwining themselves together. Then, she let an almost egotistical air contort her quiet attitude as she spoke.
"Long, indeed. Forgive me for being so captivating."
With a quiet laugh, almost a giggle, she reclines her head back just a mere fraction. Her slender fingers play with his hair absently before they find the brim of his hat. The sweet, almost passionate moment forgotten, the girl reaches up and moves to pull the hat from his head. Turning in his loose, heavy embrace, she escapes and skips back over the log, dropping back down onto the rough bark. With an obscure smile, she takes the hat and places it on her own head, hands holding it as she tilts her chin up, head falling back. Her vaguely devious smile broadens as she winks to him before looking back up. Her eyes reflect the still burning fire as she looks to it, waiting for him to move closer. Then, in a light voice, she speaks over her shoulder.
"So, how has your day been, aside from... freezing?"

Haniel's quiet humming came to an abrupt end as his lips curled into a playful smile. This is why he loved her. There was a freshness about her. Her smile could light up the darkest dwavern tunnels. Haniel saw true life in Adriana.
Why else would she intrigue me so? I've been around hundreds of years that's why... I've grown so complacent with my own life. Seeing someone so full life... makes me happy. Is that shallow? Well... I am elven...
Haniel stepped over the log with his long legs and calmly sat down next to her. His hair blew idly in the winter breeze as he looked into her eyes. She was so beautiful. Why had the gods created this... this masterpiece? She was lovely as an eldan oak blossoming in the spring... she definitely was an example of such natural beauty. He spoke softly to her in elvish, lifting his hand up to flick the brim of the hat,
"Well, I was attempting to collect my thoughts. It seems that they have become harder to gather as of late."
His face became a little more serious as he spoke those words, his hands coming to rest in his lap while he spoke. He continued to gaze into her eyes, dark as the soil beneath the frozen snow and smiled faintly.
By the gods... I hope I can think of something to say in the midst of that captivating gaze...

When Haniel finally came over the large log, Adriana’s conniving little smile broadened even more. Her steady gaze followed him as he lowered down on the log, giving him just a brief moment before moving closer, pressing herself against him gently. The wind was trying to pick up, causing the fire’s hot blaze to become unfelt, twisting about wildly. What with her loathe of cold weather, Adriana wanted warmth. She wanted warmth only he could really give her. With a faint quiver, the girl pulled her cloak about herself, brown eyes finding his emerald ones. Her smile turns affectionate when he flicks the hat, her stare steadfast as he begins talking. At his words, she laughed faintly. Head dipping, a indistinctly sheepish appearance captures her unwavering smile. After a brief moment, she raises her head again, that steady gaze meeting him. Tilting her head to the side in her habitual manner, she bites her bottom lip lightly before speaking in that teasing tone of hers.
“That wouldn’t be my fault, would it?”
Her smile widens as she leans forward, resting her elbows on her knees. Head tilted, Adriana rests her chin lightly in one upright palm as she gives Haniel a sidelong stare. After a moment, she reaches up and pulls the hat from her head, setting it back on his crookedly. With the same hand, she lets it run down his shoulder and arm, her fingers absently trying to find his palm in an attempt to intertwine with his. The playful look gradually dissolved into a warm, tender gaze as she watches him.
“All you’ve done today is waste time gathering your thoughts?”
Her smile quirks again, giving him a sweet, amused smile as she quietly observes his face. The silence that followed was caused simply for the fact that she was finding herself lost in thought again. How had she gotten so lucky? By mere chance had she met this man sitting beside her, sheer luck was it that they had gotten along. Now, fate had pulled her even further and left her standing by someone that could have so easily escaped her. That someone who truly loved her for who she was, not what she did could have turned about and walked off. It was amazing, Adriana mused, that for once Sirani seemed to be willing to work with the girl. Letting her gaze fall to her hand, resting atop his, the young woman sighed almost inaudibly, the content look returning to her gaze. For once, she was completely happy to just sit there beside him. Nothing drastic, passionate, or anything else needed to be done. She just wanted to be by him. Eyes fluttering closed as she awaited his reply, Adriana inattentively allowed her fingertips to brush in a tickling manner along his hand. Perfection. That was it. That was what she felt.

Haniel's eyes shifted up to his hat, haphazardly placed upon his head. He chuckled and let their hands interlock. Her hands felt freshly washed and as soft as elven silk. With his free hand, he slowly reached up and adjusted his hat, placing it correctly on his cognac colored hair. He looked into her dark eyes and thought to himself,
Yes my love, it's entirely your fault! You have turned everything in my life upside down! But... damn... I wouldn't want it any other way.
Haniel continued to stare into her eyes, letting his lips form into a smirk.
"Well, you most definitely are the cause of my thoughts eluding me. But as far as wasting time... I would have to strongly disagree."
Time. That had been the issue on his mind. What will they do with their time together? It seemed so short... They had to make the best of it... They had both agreed that being a part of the Renegades was not worth their precious time. Haniel's eyes moved from her face and down her blouse quickly, then ended on their interlocked hands. She smelled like fresh Firnis Blossoms in the spring... Oh spring... When will you come? When spring came he could tend to his fields and they could start a new life... His voice wavered slightly as he spoke,
"Adri, what are we going to do with ourselves?"
He left his question short and broad, hoping to let her fill in the rest. Maybe she had an answer that had eluded him. He looked up from their hands and focused his emerald eyes on her, waiting for an answer.
